Consolidated book suggestions for AP

This is seriously useful! Thanks

I haven’t taken the actual AP Chinese Language and Culture test yet, but looking at the previous AP exams, I would say Barron’s prep book is pretty accurate, although the last portion of it (the cultural section) is a little too much, but it does help here and there. My teacher has a reputation for making sure every single one of his kids pass the exam, and 98 percent of his students so far have gotten 5s on the exam T_T.

What about Cliff’s AP Bio?

^It’s a great review book, I recommend it.

I read a review on Amazon which said that the BC Calc book for Princeton doesn’t go over anything with a calculator - is this true for the most recent edition?

Can you talk about Petersons calculus AB and BC? I heard thats good but I see PR is recommended from the list above

So, the best AP Env. Science book for self studying is Princeton Review?

I heard it was Smarty Pants.

Okay, I’ve been looking through…I’m taking 3 AP’s currently which include… & I want you guys’s take on what I’m buying.

AP ENGLISH LANG: Cliffs… or is something better?
AP PSYCH: 5 steps to a 5 <- well, my teacher recommended this to me.. so I might just stick to this
AP US HISTORY: REA vs. PR… I already have the AMSCO book so… or do you guys think just the AMSCO book alone will get me a 5?
suggestions please!

But, I’m planning to self-study for AP Spanish test… so any recommendations/suggestions for AP Spanish? Princeton Review??? Did anyone here get a 5 on the AP SPANISH test just self-studying?

Thanks.

The comments on US History surprise me. I got a 5 with Princeton Review. AMSCO had way too much information in my eyes and was over preparation. But my teacher was good - the class average was about a 4 - so maybe I was just really well prepared to begin with.

I am taking four APs at my school this year and I want to self study a few. Please give me advice on my battle plan for the following, this is what I have from reading the previous posts.

AP Art History - I am self Studying. I bought the Mona Lisa Book. I’m planning on taking notes and memorizing everything. Two months before the test, I will buy the Barron’s and review. I’m hoping for a 5.

AP US History- I am self studying for this. The class has a lot of extra stuff and busy work which I would not have time for. I bought the AMESCO book and then will probably buy the Barrons and Princeton review book for it. Hoping for a 5. I have the notes for the Pagent book also to supplement my learning. What other stuff should I do, anyone else self study?

Environmental Science- I have no idea where to start. I have found an old textbook on Amazon, but it seems outdated. The newest edition is out of my price range. I would love to take one off anyones hands if they have a copy. What are your guys advice on this subject.

Thanks in advance for anyone’s help!

is 5 steps to a 5 ever good?

The comment about the Princeton Review AP US History prep book being unhelpful is completely untrue. I used this guide and got a 5 on the AP exam and a 780 on the US History SAT Subject Test

^ Did you self-study it or did you have a great teacher? I might buy Princeton Review because it’s available in my area but the rest aren’t.

Hi everyone, new member here! I think it’s awesome someone made such a comprehensive list, but I’m worried that because that list was from 2006, it might be a little outdated. Does anyone have better recommendations or are all the books pretty much the same?

Also does it make a difference if I buy the 2010 edition of an AP book or will 2008/2009 work?

I think i’ve decided on Peterson’s master the ap calculus ab&bc.

however, i was wondering whether to get the edition with or without the cd. What exactly is on the cd and is it really worth all the extra $$?

Question for anybody who’s taken Bio: PR or Cliffs?

aRawalji - the CD is useless. It pertains to random college acceptance stuff that’s pretty elementary.

scribedreams - Cliffs.

AP Macroeconomics (self-study) - Princeton Review and another?
AP Microeconomics (self-study) - Princeton Review and another?

dont get Princeton Review for Econ, unless you have been actually doing your homework and want a quick review.

I got 5 steps to a 5 for AP Econ. Its reviews on Amazon are amazing.
