Consolidated book suggestions for AP

For bio, DEF go with Cliffs.

Any suggestions for Physics C? I picked up Barron’s, but I think it’s a bit too pompous.

What is the general consensus for best AP Physics B book?

I have the SAT II Physics PR book, would that be sufficient?

How about AP Chem (not self-studying, but a so-so teacher)?

Microeconomics and Macroeconomics = “5 steps to a 5”. I did, and I got 5s! lol, these books are amazing, and about 5 questions were straight off the practice tests verbatim!

AP Chem = Barron’s review guide

AP Calculus = Peterson’s

AP Biology = either Cliffs or Barron’s

Help. For AP Calculus AB, what is the exact name of the newest “Arco/Master’s/Peterson’s” Books?

Please provide me with a link, borders/BN/Amazon if possible. There have been so many name changes and newer editions that I would love to purchase the newest one. Thank you!

what about AP music theory? Couldn’t find anything on the list.

For AP CHem and AP English LAnguage is 5 steps to a 5 good?

FOr Bio 5 steps to a 5 was very good.

Versii, the newest arco changed to peterson’s changed to master the ap calculus ab & bc is this one here: [Amazon.com: Master AP Calculus AB, 3rd ed (Master the Ap Calculus Ab & Bc Test) (9780768909890): W. Michael Kelley, Mark Wilding: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Master-AP-Calculus-3rd-Test/dp/0768909899/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1258855622&sr=1-1)

As of what I know, the 3rd edition was the last, and yes they’re all out of print. You have to get it from one of the sellers.

Out of just the few AP’s I have taken, cliffs is unbeatable for Bio, princeton for Chem, peterson’s for Calc BC, Cliffs for English language, Modern European History for Euro, and definitely AMSCO for US history.

i just ordered my 5 steps to a 5 book for ap bio, hopefully itll be here by wednesday!

as for econ, im loving my 5 steps book [which prompted me to buy the bio one too. the brand has really good reviews on amazon and my teachers love it]. its written really nicely and is very easy to understand.

princeton review for ap chem was ehhh… not that detailed… questions seemed easier than the exam. but im def. taking it to college

ciao!

OK, so I have two question:

Firstly, I have
PR for AP Eng Lang
and
PR for AP Physics

If I study these 2 hard, do I have a chance to get 5 on both? or would I need other books for these AP tests i.e. Barrons.

Secondly, is AP Psych really that easy? I do not have that class but if I just read like PR for the test, do I have chances for getting 4-5 on the test? Anyone here read the book and got good score on the AP exam? (If yes, which edition did you use?)

^ For physics I would recommend understanding the concepts very well and doing a lot of problem sets. Review what you’ve done regularly

Thank you so much.

It sucks I have Pre-Cal while I am taking Physics AP. It has lot of pre-cal and many students in my class are taking BC. I am trying my best to catch up.

Does anyone know when the REA Crash Course for AP US Government and Politics will be available?

I’m sort of on the fence on whether I should use it or not - I know REA CC APUSH had stellar reviews

What books are recommended for self-studying WH, Stat, Psycho, Hum Geo and Env Sci? I am taking AP bio and going to take AP Chem.

first, i have to say that this is a great thread!
second: i’ve read through a lot of the posts on this thread, but i would still want to know what’s the best prep book for ap chem if your teacher isn’t really that great at teaching the material…? would it still be PR?

I used [AP Exam Review - AP US History and American Pageant Review](http://www.apexamreview.com) to practice for the APUSH exam.

This site is awesome because it has a simulation exam section. Its 99% the same feeling as the real multiple choice exam. 80 questions and 55 minutes to complete (same as real APUSH exam). Its also composed of similar questions on the real exam. The awesome part is when you complete the exam it gives you a very detailed list of your results. It doesn’t just give you how many you got wrong (like other websites). Instead it gives you many things like your raw ap score points(-22-90), your real AP score (1-5). Then it breaks down your results based on how many you got correct from each time period and category type so you know exactly what you need to study. To top it off they give you a personalized study plan of topics you should cover which was generated based on the questions you got wrong. So if you got civil war questions wrong then it recommends that you read the civil war topic they have on their site. It sure saved me alot of time, especially when I was cramming for the test and I needed to know exactly what I needed to cover!

Hey guys!

For APUSH, for the REA book, would you guys recommend getting the 8th edition? It’s more recent, yes, but I currently have a hand-me-down of the 7th edition, and I’m just wondering if the changes are that significant. Thank you!

Unless the exam has been revised (which I don’t think it has), lullabies, I think the 7th edition would be fine. If you’re taking AP comp gov and politics, though, I would purchase the 4th edition (the most recent addition) as that exam has been updated and revised.

I’m in AP Chem right now, and I’m using both Barron’s and PR. I would recommend getting both of those as they both do a great job. You may also want to look into purchasing Zumdahl’s *Chemistry/i. Purchasing the accompanying solution guide may also be helpful. Good luck!
