Consolidated book suggestions for AP

I used The Annotated Mona Lisa. It is awesome for the AP test and reviews characteristics of styles very well. I know a lot of people who went for the Barron’s, which is all bullets (I barely even opened my copy), and didn’t get a 5 like me.
Princeton Review is great for Human Geography and gives a lot of examples to use in the FRQs. You might want to do a quick vocab review on Quizlet too (I reviewed vocab with the Barron’s). 5 also.

What books are best for Stats and Calc BC?

Do I need one for Lit if I took the Lang class/exam with no trouble whatsoever?

And is it true that Barron’s is the best for Psych?

Hey, guys. I’m taking English Language, Biology, Art History and Physics C, what are your suggestions for these?

Hey i am going to take Ap bio and Ap calc AB any prep books ? Please and thank u :)

For Physics C, I would recommend Princeton’s Review; it has essentially been noted to be one of the best Physics B & C prep books out there. However, for Biology, the curriculum is being changed drastically, so I can’t really recommend any good prep books at the moment.

@Twiggy22
Cliffnotes is the best AP Bio book by far.

What are the best books for chemistry and english language?

I’ve heard that the PR study guide is the best for chem, but since I’m self-studying, should I get a textbook or other supplement material as well? If yes, then what would you recommend?

@gomdorri: PR is definitely the best for chemistry. If you’re self-studying, you don’t need to buy anything else if you know how to use your resources online. Watch videos (khanacademy), use flashcards for memorizing things like polyatomic ions, look for tutorials, ask for help when you need it, and just learn to search on your own for what you need. There’s really nothing that can act as a substitute for the lab experience you’ll get in AP chem (for example, it’s hard to learn how to perform a titration out of a book), but for the rest, you should be able to do fine if you’re motivated.

Hello!

This year, I am going to take AP Cal BC, AP Econ, and AP Physic B.

I am planning to purchase two prep books for each subject, and I really need your

advice. Since I am going to buy two prep books for each APs, will you recommend books

that cover each others weaknesses?

^from my overall experience: Barron’s books are very through so I might suggest that for calc (barron’s physics got horrible rating for some reason) and maybe Princeton review to balance out

5-steps to a 5 is too short for my liking (it’s actually descent so you might want to get this along w/ barrons or PR

as for me, I really want to know the best review books for AP Physics B+C, I heard barron’s was bad for physics which I couldn’t understand since Physics is all about thourough-ness

If you want to learn just enough to take the test and get a 5: Princeton Review (hands down)

If you want to learn the material to the degree that the corresponding college class would learn it: Barrons supplemented with either a nice textbook (for engineers/physicists) or mit ocw (hands down).

Hi! I was wondering what are the best prep books for these APs that i can get. I really want to get a 5 this upcoming year.

AP Chem
AP English Lang
AP Stats
AP US History

It’s hard for me to decide which ones to get. For AP Lang i heard CliffNotes but i feel like i want a complete review like Barrons. For AP Stats i’m not sure if i want to go for Princeton Review or Barrons. For AP Chem i heard about this new book called Surviving AP Chemistry One Day At a Time. Any thoughts about that?

Any thoughts on Micro and Macroecon? The latter will be self-studied since the my school only offers Micro.

@ace231: for stats get barron’s, the practice questions are great and quite challenging, not sure about lang or chem

^if you’re taking micro then get princeton or barron’s since macro<micro and if you take micro u’ll have some micro stuff down already, if you’re self-studying then I’m not sure, I don’t think there’s a clear winner in what book to get for it

OK, guys, I need some suggestions.

For Calc BC, I bought Barron’s and PR, and I definitely think Barron’s is the better book.

I need some suggestions for the following:
Comp Sci A
Physics B
Stats

For Comp Sci A, I was considering Barron’s and for Physics B I was thinking maybe PR, despite the Calc BC book from PR being a big disappointment.

Anyway, I’m open to any suggestions.

Bump. I would like some answers.

Any suggestions for Calc AB? I was told Princeton for Chemistry and Barron’s for Psych? And Suggestions for Math Subject test? (yes I know it’s not an AP test)

I’ve heard nothing but good things about Barron’s for Math II.

Thanks! What about AP Calc AB?

Any suggestions for these?

AP Euro (I have modern euro history and ap achiever)
AP English Lang
AP Physics B
AP Biology (I know the curriculum has changed, but still.
AP Statistics
AP Environmental Science
