Which Barron’s AP Literature edition is the best? They don’t seem to have an up to date 2013 or 2012 edition on amazon ..

I got a 5 on calc bc. I bought Princeton review (which is too easy) but I had an awesome genius teacher.

Eng literature do not waste your time with review books. Just read your novels in school and really understand them to rock the essays. The mc is standard reading comprehension don’t worry about it too much.

Ap gov definitely get crash course. Can’t stress this enough.

Ap Econ get Princeton or 5 steps

Also for English literature exam, there’s several passages that are LONG, so build endurance and once you pick and answer stick with it!

For APUSH, I would recommend Kaplan or REA’s Crash Course

Psychology you will get a 5 with Barron’s.

I would definitely recommend REA’s crash course for APUSH. I didn’t read the textbook all year and our teacher didn’t teach (she just told stories; her students’ average on the test is a 2) and I read the crash course in the few weeks before the test and got a 4. Also, history has always been my worst subject in school by far and I am not interested in it at all but with the book I managed to pull a 4 on the test.

Does anybody know if REA’s world crash course would work just as well?

The books I used and scores I got:

Calc AB/BC (5) - Barron’s: unless you prefer using your actual calculus textbook, Barron’s is a solid review, and should have everything you need for AB and/or BC.

Euro (5) - REA (Krieger): VERY concise; if you get this book down, you should be getting 70%+ on your MC.

US Gov (5) - REA (Krieger): Again, VERY concise. It’s really all you need for a 5, and it’s <150 pages rofl.

Psychology (5) - REA (Krieger): Krieger really makes the best test prep books. It’s all you should need for a 5.

Chem (5) - Barron’s: I really found it useful; however, I have no clue for all people taking it in 2014 or later with the new test structure…

Bio (5) - Barron’s/Cliff Notes: They were easy for me to read and relatively concise, but again, this was before the new test bio structure in 2013, so ask people who took it this year, as only 5.4% got 5’s, down from 19.4% last year…

Statistics (4) - Barron’s: I didn’t really prepare well for this one, and statistics sorta bored me, but I still believe it’s the best prep book for the test.

EnvSci (4) - PR: Very concise and easy too read/understand. I spent less than 3 days studying, so I didn’t expect the 5 anyway.

Eng Lit and Lang (3, 3) - No real prep book for this. You just have to be strong at reading comprehension, which I clearly am not.

Barrons is definitely the way to go for AP Psychology! It is the only prep book I used and I think it really helped me earn my 5 on the exam.

So it seems like AP Psych should be Barrons/Kriegliers. What are the best (current ones) for Macroecon and Comp Gov?

Will these books be okay for next year?

AP Chemistry - PR
AP US Gov - PR + CC
AP Econ - 5 Steps to a %
AP English Lang - None?

What book are good for
AP Calc BC
AP Chemistry
AP Psychology
AP Physics C Mechanics
AP Physics C E&M (Self study)
AP Environmental Science (Self Study)
AP Macro and Micro Economics (Self Study)

For AP Euro, Princeton Review is a must buy because it contain all the detailed information and key terms to do well on the multiple choice section. REA Crash Course is also great but I think it should be a complementary review book to the PR.

So for AP Calc AB/BC, I’ve heard PR and Be Prepared for the AP Calculus Exam are good? Are there any other better books, and any thoughts on which I should get?

@klokt152 - I’ll be taking AP Chem this year, and based on the majority, I’m going with PR, but I’m waiting for the 2014 edition (with the updated strategies that reflect the changes to the 2014 AP Chemistry Exam), which will be out August 6th!

I’m taking the following ap classes when school starts:
Chem, physics b, APUSH, English literature, calc bc.
I’m getting pr and barrons for all of them, once they come out with new editions…any others that I should get or discard? Any advice would help. Thanks.

@htrej7 - For APUSH, I’ve read on several threads that AMSCO, crash course (REA), US History In a Flash, and The Essential Content are all better than both PR and Barron’s..I am yet to choose which two to get though

Yeah, I’ve heard Amsco is better for APUSH and that REA is also really good. Apparently the author Larry Krieger is superb at writing history prep/review books, he does the REA and the essential content I think.

Yupp! Do you have any idea which would be better to accompany amsco? The essential content, REA, or both? Also, any suggestions for AP Calc AB/BC?

Does anyone know web the new Cliffsnotes or Barron’s book comes out for the 2014 AP Bio exam?

It seems like no prep or review book is close to perfect, so I’d guess the more books, the better.
