A TASP is a six-week educational experience for high school juniors that offers challenges and rewards rarely encountered in secondary school or even college. Each program is designed to bring together young people from around the world who share a passion for learning. Telluride students, or TASPers, attend a seminar led by college and university faculty members and participate in many other educational and social activities outside the classroom. (It accepts 86 students from around the world.)

Notes: It’s mostly humanities oriented, but its 5 seminar’s topic changes every year so some of you non-humanities people may be interested in it too. TASS is the sophomore version on TASP. Each summer approximately 75 high school students gather for six of the most stimulating weeks of their young lives. Selected from the United States and other nations, these students participate in a rigorous academic program which emphasizes advanced theory and research in mathematics, the sciences, and engineering.This is the Research Science Institute (RSI).

Consider spending six weeks, June 30 - August 10, 2007, in our rigorous summer program focusing on technical areas of study. You’ll build academic and personal skills required for admission to competitive colleges and universities and take part in fun and exciting summer activities.

Notes: This program is the free version of Carnegie Mellon’s summer course program where you pay to get credits. It is significantly harder to get in to the free program than to the paid program.</p>

MITES(Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science) is a rigorous six-week residential, academic enrichment summer program for promising high school juniors who are interested in studying and exploring careers in science, engineering, and entrepreneurship. This national program stresses the value and reward of pursuing advanced technical degrees and careers while developing the skills necessary to achieve success in science and engineering in an increasingly racially and ethnically diverse nation and world. MITES is rooted in MIT’s belief in the importance to our nation that minorities and other underrepresented segments of the population pursue higher education and careers in these fields.
