Contacted by College Board about CD's for ACT practice? Scam?

A guy who called himself “Mr. Silva” called me about 20 minutes ago saying that he was with the College Board and they were sending out two CDs with practice tests and such. He said I had 30 days to use the CDs and then they had to be returned. To ensure that they were returned he said that they needed to get a credit or debit card. It smelt off to me. Has anyone else been contacted by “Mr. Silva” or anyone else offering a similar program?

The College Board does not administer the ACT. I agree with you, this is fishy.

It might have been the SAT. With a heavy accent and bad phone service SAT and ACT sound similar. Actually, ACT and SAT sound similar regardless :stuck_out_tongue:

Sounds like a scam. I hope you didn’t give him any information.

Definite scam.

I told him I’d call him back tomorrow.

Good call @DannyZuko

Definitely a scam.
