So I have been recently contacted by one of my dream school’s Financial Aid Office. They start asking very specific questions about my family’s properties and ownership. Can it be a good sign of having a chance of acceptance??

Is the school need-blind?

Yes it is~

On your other posts, you stated that you were contacted through HEOP.

HEOP is a 2 step process; where you must be deemed both academically and financially eligible in order to be admitted. This means that they do a thorough look at the finances of all HEOP candidates before they make a decision.

This question comes up a lot. The answer is that it could be, but not always. At this late date, it is often a good sign, but when there is something else involved, such as HEOP, as Sybbie points out, it can be a matter of getting the ducks in a row just in case.

I’ve known people who have gotten all excited from simple info requests from fin aid, that are merely routine sifting through files to make sure everything is there. FIn aid is really under the gun when they get the lists of accepted students as they have to come up with a package ASAP, so they will comb though the files to make sure all info is there before the acceptances.
