Continuing education vs Credited College Classes

If I took a continuing education class it would be 3-4 classes of intro and advanced computer programming (Visual Basic and JAVA) at a college or should I take 1-2 credited courses at the same college.
I really want to learn to program to build a web tool I’ve been dreaming of.
Which one would be able to teach me more?
Which one would look better for college applications?

Assuming your one or two credit courses cover the same topic and you already have some background in Java/VB, I would go with that. If you can handle the material, why not earn credit?

Besides one not having credit, would both look good on college apps?

They wouldn’t look bad :). I don’t know what you plan to major in, but if it’s engineering, computer science, etc., both should be good.
