I did a quick search and found a bit of information on CC. The present car is a Lexus SUV who has been great through middle school, hs band, son’s college road trip, bad roads etc. There was no car that I wanted to replace her. Till the car show-and I saw the Volvo C70. Features and price seem a good match. Test drove today and was not disappointed. H has infinity which leaves Bad taste for another, perhaps just a fluke car. I did test drive 2010 Infinity today. BMW’s more than I will pay, also don’t like BMW’s service. Want comfort-Lexus 2010 models are priced about the same as Volvo 2011. I do like Lexus service, they are always nice when I bring in my old SUV. Consumers Report does not put the Lexus convertible as reliable, but then they raved about H’s G37.
So anyone have any info they would like to share? I really don’t have a want for a new car, it is more of a need to replace the old girl. No longer have a need for SUV, no more band, no more bad roads. Oh, I did see the Camaro and it looks really nice, but it isn’t out yet and I think I should get a hard top.
thx

I haven’t driven one and I know a lot of people don’t like VW’s but I love love love the look of the VW Eos. [VW Eos - 2011 Volkswagen Eos Convertible < Models < Volkswagen of America](http://www.vw.com/en/models/eos.html) It has a hard top and it folds into its trunk.

I drive an old 66 Mustang convertible. I really like driving a convertible. Driving with the top down is a completely different feeling than driving an ordinary car. Southern Cal is the ideal location for a convertible.

If you’re considering a Camaro, have you taken a look at the newer Mustang convertibles? The new Mustangs seem to receive slightly higher reviews from the auto enthusiast mags. I think a Camaro convertible is due out in a few months if you don’t need something right away and had that on your mind. Keep in mind that these cars have a next to useless back seat so if driving 4 adults is important then look for something other than these two.

I owned a C70 a while back. As a previous owner, all I could say is Volvo sports car is oximoron.

I drove a VW Cabrio for years. I loved having a convertible, especially in LA. Go for it!

A couple of things to note. Always wear sunblock, and on long trips I’d recommend shirts that aren’t low cut. I once got a seatbelt tan line. Also, I occasionally got “rained” on by other cars’ windshield wiper fluid.

If you don’t mind a smaller car, there is always the MINI Cooper convertible. Adorable and a great drive. I have just a regular Cooper and love it. Since it’s owned by BMW you get the free maintenance for 3 years.

I actually think that I read somewhere that Lexus is discontinuing that line of convertibles? could be wrong…

The Audi A5 convertible (and coupe hardtop) is actually my favorite car right now; drives great and is reasonably priced (I think similar to the Volvo C70)…but alas I am driving an SUV…

I was going to mention the Audis. I love my A6 Quattro–the handling is great, it drives well even on icy snow (went up hills as people all around me slid into each other), and I’ve put 95K miles on the car in just over 4 years and only had to replace lightbulbs and brake pads.

I will never again own a Volvo after my horrifying experiences in the mid-80s. In less than 20K miles, I had to have the transmission and AC rebuilt, and sold the car when they told me the turbo would have to be rebuilt as well. It burnt through the cooling hoses, too. They blamed it on my driving. Yeah, because I was taking it on the race track with an 18-month-old and a 3-month-old in the back. I don’t think so.

Friend had an Audi A5 convertible and had nothing but problems, sold it after 2 years.

My mini cooper convertible is Fuuuu-un to drive!
I highly recommend it.

Do you care that Ford sold Volvo to the Chinese?
I drive a 2009 Infiniti G37 convertible. I am quite happy with it. I have previosly owned
convertibles made by Ford, Chevy, Plymouth and BMW and this is my favorite. I love the retractable hardtop. I do regret the loss of trunk space, which is non existent.

I love my Audi A4 cabriolet…and the A5 is fantastic.

Oooh that Eos is cute but nothing beats the old Caddies. Put the rooftop down and 5 of your good friends and go for a cruise. Unfortunately you can only put the top down when it’s not raining and only for about six months out of twelve in my neck of the woods.

We have a '74 Karmann Ghia convertible. It’s adorable, but feels a little like driving around in a tin can. I can’t believe that at one time we had one as our only vehicle.

i currently drive a c70. it’s not as much fun to drive as my bmw convertible was, but on the upside it is front wheel drive and it is a hard top. i am happiest driving to and from work when i can put the top down and crank up the tunes. i hope to always have a convertible in the garage.
