converting Perkins/stafford-subsidised to w/study?

Any way possible?

I have 3.8k Pell, I don’t know why I only have 1.5k w/study.

I guess I didn’t care until I got a new work study position …

Also, I guess 750 for the fall is going to waste, right? Why do they break it up like that? =(

There is a very limited pot of work study money - the government gives the school some & the school must match it. This money is spread among students, so the awards at some schools may not be as large as at other schools - and at schools with more needy students, a lot of students who would like to have work study money are not able to get it.

Because there is no way to know who will actually accept their work study award or how much they will really earn, more money is usually awarded than there is actual money in the pot. The idea is that some students will not work/earn. Schools do want to spend all of their allotted money so that they won’t get less the next year … but they don’t want to have to come up with a bunch of money if more students work/earn than they anticipated. So it’s a real balancing act.
