Though I was not able to get all the details because they are still waiting for my meningitis vaccine I was able to squeeze out some info from the rep. He told me that I am in an apartment on Cook/Douglass. I am soooooo relieved to be in an apt. I really didnt want to live off of the RU meal plan. Anywho, because they are still waiting for my vaccinations he did not tell me my address so im not exactly sure where I am! Is there only one residence hall with apartments on the cook campus? Is the cook campus fun?? Isnt it close to college ave?

Alright I am not really positive on this because I only stayed there for a tournament, but Cook campus doesn’t have heat/AC and you have to go through a bad area just to get chinese food (the only place within walking distance). I believe I am correct with that info but we’ll see if anyone else agrees with me. Sorry :(

I seem like both pretty campuses…but maybe the picture are deceiving! Are these campuses fun…what is there to do around them? Isnt it right next to college ave campus?
I understand cook and douglass are separate campuses…im not actually sure which one im on because i was told cook/douglass…

Wow, mschuler28! I really hope that isnt true!!
Also, something else I heard was that not all residence halls have wifi…is this true?? Thats terrible…schools should have widespread wifi…

I do believe that Douglass might be a bit better, but then again I’m not sure of that. I remember saying to myself after that tournament "I hope my college dorm isn’t like this one " lol. But on the bright side it’s not too far off from College Ave, so that’s one good thing about it.

No heat or A/C, what are you talking about??

My son lived on Cook last year in Newell Apartments (that’s probably where you’ll be). They are fine. He had wifi in his room but he said it was a bit slow.

[Living Room in Newell Apartments | whereRU](http://whereru.rutgers.edu/gigapans/317/Living-Room-in-Newell-Apartments) Looks big here, but actually feels smaller inside.

Here is a map of Cook. Click the minus sign 2x for a better view. Nielsen dining hall is nearby, as is Cook Rec center and a bus stop. Douglass Campus is adjacent.

ps he never walked anywhere for chinese food they have free delivery with a minimum order.

Oh wow that actually looks pretty nice! Im glad to see they give you recycling bins.

I like how the apt is able to be decorated…they look more modern then some apts I was looking at on college ave. Maybe I am wrong but I was looking at one on youtube and it already had furniture inside…the furniture looked old and uncomfortable. Very basic and not homey at all. It looked like the lobby of a free clinic…

However I am on Douglass. I understand Cook and Douglass are pretty close together but not the same thing…
They wont let me know what building im in yet because theyre waiting on my meningitis vaccination but they told me I am in an apartment on Douglass. The only apts I know of on Douglass are an all girls building. Is that true??? Im not sure how I feel about being in an all girls building…though as long as its not an all girls campus I guess its okay.

Henderson Apts are on Douglass:

lol yes I know about the henderson apts thanks RUALUM which is how I know it is an all girls hall =/ Bummer

Are they the only apartments on Douglass? I was pretty sure they were but im not sure.

Henderson has the only apartments on Douglass. The Newells and the Starkeys are the apartments on Cook. Henderson is apparently bigger than the Newells and Starkey and has a closer bus stop. It’s about a two mile walk from Cook/Douglass to College Ave and it gets kind of sketchy at night so the buses are really your only option for getting between campuses. Plus it’s really convenient having a bus stop right outside your dorm/apartment.

So here’s the deal with Cook/Douglass. They used to be two separate colleges, Cook College (the agriculture school) and New Jersey College for Women (later renamed Douglass College). But through a whole series of mergers and what-not in the 70s and 2007, they now are both part of Rutgers. Douglass is now just a residential college and Cook became the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS). Physically, it’s pretty much impossible to tell the two campuses apart. Some people can draw a squiggly line through the campus and call one half Cook and the other half Douglass, but they function as one campus. It’s also the prettiest campus :)

Also, I have no idea what the person was talking about when they said no heat/AC. The dorms don’t have AC but they definitely have heat and the housing website says that all the apartments on C/D have AC. I don’t really know what the wifi situation is in the apartments but in my dorm room we had to use an ethernet cable. It really wasn’t as annoying as I thought it would be because there wasn’t much room to move around anyways and the lounge had wifi if I needed to go in there. It could be annoying in the apartments, though. You might have to bring a router to boost the signal just in case.
