D2 is taking Beginning Snowboarding for a PE credit this semester. I asked how she decided between Beginning and Intermediate level - answer: “You aren’t allowed to repeat the class, so this way I can take Intermediate next year and Advanced my junior year.”
I guess by senior year she might have to explore a new sport!

I took a political science class from the estimable William Schonfeld called “Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves: Power and Authority in Deviant Subcultures.” It was an awesome class. I ran into Prof Schonfeld on campus maybe 20 years after I graduated and asked him if he still taught GT&T. He said he did, but it was now titled something like “Power and Authority Relationships in Subcultures.” He said that attendance dwindled in the 80s as students resisted having “GT&T” on their transcripts. Students in the 80s were clearly wimps compared to those of us 10 years earlier.
