I came across this issue last year and would love to hear what an Admissions Officer thinks: how do you evaluate great writing that has little substance? I.e. does the beautiful writing trump the lack of substance?

My senior is required to write about an experience in high school that has really shaped who she is today. Is there a good resource to find specific examples of what other students have written for this type of essay prompt?
