Cool one

This is genius.

o gawd…

omg lol i am speechless

Well eventually somebody would come up with that.

But what is the practical purpose to having a building that moves? I would only think that it would have security problems.

catsushi, it’s supposed to be “Green” I guess, the building moves with the wind and uses natural power.

Turbines that not only make it rotate, but keep it self-sufficient. Genius.

But what would happen if it got hit by an earthquake?

I keep thinking of that game Jenga…

“But what would happen if it got hit by an earthquake?”

I don’t think the UAE gets hit with earthquakes. I’m not sure, but I don’t think it’s located near an active plate boundary or anything like that.

catsushi, it is going to be built, so it’s a reality.

It seems to be able to produce more energy using wind than just fitting a couple of turbines on top of a normal building…

I think the turbines would be rotated by the wind and produce the energy which moves the apartments(computer controlled)… i don’t think the apartments are moved by the wind itself.

it seems really scary

How are the turbines supposed to move the building? And where are they?

If you look at the picture carefully, you’ll see turbines in between each floor of the building (each floor is an apartment)… OMG, it’ll be a dream come true to own one of those

well if you have 3-36 million dollars…

^I have in my dreams

Arabs still doing it best I suppose…

hmmm…interesting.

Flying over Dubai in about 10 years is going to be one spectacular architectural achievement after another. U.S. giants should start to innovate in this area as well. There can only be so long that buildings like the Sears and Chrysler Towers as well as the Pentagon can be the pinnacle of our design ideas.

I went to Dubai 4 years ago. Amazing place.
