<p>Notre Dame? Michigan’s helmets are far more identifiable than Notre Dame’s. Texas’s are just their logo, nothing special, Alabama’s is another “classic”, Penn State’s and Ohio State’s are boring, USC’s are pretty cool. Michigan has easily the most identifiable helmet in football. You either love it or hate it but either way you know it’s Michigan.</p>

<p>Yeah sure. As soon as I see one I think of Boston College. Can you ever praise your future alma mater for once? Michigan’s winged helmets are the most recognizable of any school in the country. How you could place them in the number 5 slot in your list is just laughable. Do you have any idea how many athletes wanted to attend Michigan just because of the helmets? Please stick to ranking schools for IB worthiness in the future.</p>

<p>Actually, though I am a Notre Dame fan, I’m going to go with FSU as the most distinctive/best. Especially with the whole Seminole controversy. But the spear looks great. I never really noticed Michigan’s helmet. The design just looks kind of weird, though, when I just looked it up. But I suppose everyone will have different opinions.</p>

<p>I do like Michigan’s “M” logo, though. The one up on top of this forum is pretty cool.</p>

<p>^Kids…don’t make me seperate the two of you. I can’t stand ND and completely think U of M’s helmet is the most recognizable, but to play devil’s advocate…U of Delaware has a great helmet too. :)</p>

<p>I don’t know man. I appreciate the beauty of brilliance through simplicity. </p>

<p>It amazes me how ND can build the biggest brand name in CFB just being, well, ND. </p>

<p>It kinda applies to many aspect of Michigan football too. It’s like the simple Block M. The fact that we don’t have a mascot. The fact that we never schedule night games(at least not until the upcoming ND game). We didn’t do all the fancy pipe-in music crap until the last year. We rarely mess with our uniforms, out helmets. No gimmicks a lot of other schools try to play and somehow we are a top 5 brand in CFB. </p>

<p>bearcats, correcting a statement that is negative does not imply nazism. Michigan borrowed nothing from Princeton. The man who came up with the idea of the winged helmet (Crisler) left Princeton for Michigan and braught his concept with him.</p>

<p>As for whether Michigan’s helmet design is the best or not does not matter. Some like the simple helmets of Notre Dame or PSU while others prefer more distinct helmets such as Michigan’s. What matters is that it is definitely one of the more recognized.</p>
