There’s twitter, and then there is Black twitter, lmbo, it cracks me up!
Has anyone noticed a number of cops involved in shootings/escalations have prior military background? I wonder if there is some type of correlation?
Thanks for adding that comment. It was for a similar reason that I questioned a prior post that intimated this might be normal in McKinney. The (upper) middle class community is racially diverse despite its 75-80 white population as about 20 percent are Hispanics. The AA population is similar to the national distribution.
This happens to be the result from what appears pretty bad attitudes by ADULTS who either hurled racist comments (read go back to Sec 8) or started brawls a la trailer park trash. The response by the cops showed how overwhelmed the officer was. One could have expected a more organized response than what the lone ranger embarked on. It is impossible to tell with chosen videos, but he seems to have escalated the violent part.
I think that the teenagers were more supportive of one another than the adults who hold on to obvious prejudice. There is hope after all for the next generations.
@partyof5 You should check out what Black Tumblr is saying. lol No chill.
Sean Toon is the one who posted photos of himself with the thanks towards McKinney PD for making him feel “safe”. I wonder how safe he feels with the protests going on in the neighborhood…
Thanks for the link, Partyof5.
Teenager Grace Stone’s interview sheds more light on the events. Her and her dad’s observations further point to the fact that Casebolt was simply out of control. Grace admitted she mouthed-off to Casebolt, but I find it interesting that, as the person whom verbally objected to the neighbor mom tossing around racist insults, she (Grace) was the only white person that I thus far see whom was handcuffed by Casebolt. Incidentally, Grace’s father said Casebolt refused to explain why he handcuffed Grace.
“If we can’t swim, you can’t drive.”
Wow. He’s resigned, according to his lawyer.
Yep, he resigned. http://www.rawstory.com/2015/06/mckinney-pool-party-cop-resigns-following-public-outcry/
To me, the most impressive part of the whole thing is that in the video of the initial fight, you can see the black kids pulling the other black teen away from the two white women and the man. They obviously did not want a fight.
many cops have prior military backgrounds…
Forgive me for speculating, but Casebolt’s sudden resignation makes me believe that his superiors let him know that with the present facts, the investigation wouldn’t go well for him. Or maybe his family and friends were shocked at his actions and he simply had a ‘come to Jesus moment.’ I’d sure like to hear an explanation in his own words.
I’m just glad that his department did the right thing and didn’t try to make excuses for his behavior.
Leaving aside the issue of his assaulting a young girl clad only in a 2-piece bathing suit for no apparent reason and his pulling the gun, I was shocked and appalled by the language he used to a bunch of young girls standing there in their bathing suits clutching towels. I honestly do not think he would have told white girls to “stop running your mouth”–one of the most revoltingly sexist things men say that makes me nuts–and to “get your ass out of here.” I would be absolutely furious if a cop used that language to me, or to anyone, let alone young girls.
He treated a group of young girls like animals. Actually, I treat my dog with considerably more respect.
Major props to the kid who recorded the video, who is thoughtful, well-spoken, and brave. Also to the young white girl (Grace Jones?) who was handcuffed for speaking up against the mistreatment of the black teens. Her father ought to be apologizing to her for doubting her! Also to the young black girl who spoke up for her friend who was assaulted and her father, and to the young black men who seemed to be trying to intervene in the assault, until they were threatened by the gun-wielding racist nutcase.
I hope this guy is never a police officer again.
I would love to hear an explanation from the former officer, as well. Major kudos to the children involved. Their true colors came out and have been shown to the world – great children who stand up for what is right.
The department said the officer was out of control and acted against policy. I know that here the police union would likely stand behind an officer if only to prevent his firing - even while condemning him - because they believe they must maintain the union’s power. I don’t know how powerful the police union is in Texas and in McKinney in particular.
Defenders of the crazy cop beware:
Yes, the firing of this Miami principal has been all over local news. I heard nothing about a reassignment. Lots of outrage, given the majority of the students in his school.
It’s possible he resigned voluntarily to protect his pension or to preserve his ability to work in another department somewhere down the road.
^ What is wrong with some people? The principle is obviously free to believe anything he wants but to put it on social media? People seem to have no common sense anymore and no ability to think before saying something.
The news is reporting that officer Casebolt had responded to two suicide calls prior to the pool party call. On one of those calls a parent shot himself in front of his family. His lawyer said the only reason Casebolt responded to the pool was because the call was about an ongoing assault.
