Cordless stick vacuums

Hey look a non COVID-19 discussion!

Thinking about getting a cordless stick vacuum. I bought a Dyson regular vacuum at Christmas time and I really like it.

But the cordless Dyson. There are so many different models, I have no idea which to buy. What is a good price, I definitely would like to find a good deal.

I’m not stuck on the Dyson brand either, if you have a recommendation for another, please tell me.

But mostly, do you like your cordless vacuum? Does it work well? How much do you use it? I’d really like one that had attachments that I could use it to also clean out the car, if that’s possible

Thanks for starting the thread. I’d love one for my kitchen hardwood floors (tired of sweeping) … but not sure there are any that are worth the cost and storage space.

I have a Shark Rocket Pet Pro cordless. I use it at least once a week on my hard floors. I have a “sewing” closet that I store it in and leave it plugged into the charger all the time. I bought it on sale at Bed Bath & Beyond with a coupon for about $200.

It comes apart for a handheld with a couple of attachments. I haven’t used it in the car yet, but it certainly would be good for that.

I think this is the one I have: https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/shark-reg-rocket-reg-pet-pro-cordless-stick-vacuum/5381295?opbthead=true&ta=typeahead&keyword=shark-rocket-ix140

It does not stand up by itself with the canister part attached and it doesn’t have a bracket or anything to use to hang it on the wall. I take mine apart to empty the canister, then stand the bottom part up and lay the canister part on a shelf and plug it in.

We got the Dyson V11 at a great discount on ebay. It has been fantastic on all surfaces except deep carpet, where it seems to bog down a bit. Fortunately, we have very little of that in our house.

No issues whatsoever with it over the 6 months or so we have had it. I would definitely recommend it, although it is pricey at retail.

I have one of the Dyson’s. (Animal VII? Something else? No idea.) I got it with some special at Costco, and I love it. It has all sorts of great attachments and I do use it in the car. The only downside is that when I use it on “max” power, it only lasts about six minutes. That’s enough to do a quick run around the edges of the kitchen and the front hall, or one or two area rugs, but then I have to plug it in again.

I bought myself a Dyson V11 for Christmas and I love it. I had a Hoover cordless previously, but the Dyson has much better suction and works better on tile floors. (Most of my house is either tile or hardwood.) Love it so much better than the canister vac I’d been using on the tile previously.

I’ve had a Dyson for years. Not sure what model - just basic. It’s a trusted friend and has been very reliable. The charge lasts as long as I need it for at least 80% of the time and the one time it quit working, I just did a good clean out and it started right back up. Couldn’t do without it. It was very expensive, more than my regular vac, but I love it! I mounted the charger on the wall in my laundry room so it’s handy to grab.

I also have a Eufy robot vac. It’s my bestest friend.

I have had a dyson v8 absolute for a few years and I love it!

There is a family rule that you may not give me an appliance of any kind as a gift… but an exception was made in this case. I use it almost every day. I think it cost about $400, but I’m worth it. ?

I don’t recall which model Dyson that H bought last year, but it does not work for me. Not having an on/off button but instead having to hold the handle a certain way to keep it on quickly becomes very painful for me. Between arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome, and thumbs that seem to get strained easily, I just could not use it.

We had a Shark cordless that had a dustbuster-type detachable part for a while. It was great while it lasted, which was only 10 months. I’d love to find a good replacement.

I bought this one on Amazon about 6 months ago and love it.
I call it my fake Dyson.
I wanted something to have handy for kitchen floor not as a main vacuum.

Turns out it does hard floors perfectly but also does a credible job on our medium pile carpet.
GREAT suction, quick charge that lasts a long time. Two speeds.
If it lasts me a couple of years I’ll be happy. It was $150ish.

MOOSOO Cordless Vacuum Cleaner 17Kpa Strong Suction 2 in 1 Stick Vacuum Ultra-Quiet Handheld Vacuum with Brushless Motor Multi-attachments

One year my husband bought us a nice upright vacuum for Christmas. I love it …twas the gift that came with “parts and labor” (he did a lot of the vacuuming, especially after he had one that worked well for his tall height)

Thanks,
I decided that this will be my purchase with the stimulus money. So I’ll be helping the economy

Thank for the eBay tip, I’ll definitely look there. But I’m intrigued with the amazon model, the price is really good

No problem. Out of curiosity I just looked up my ebay history. We got the Dyson V11 Torque Drive model back in May 2019 for $525 shipped w/no sales tax. I remember looking around at the time and really couldn’t find it locally at any stores for much under the $700 retail price and coupons wouldn’t work at Bed Bath Beyond, for instance.

Costco only carried the V10 models back then but I see that they now stock the V11 Animal+ (whatever that means) for about $580. I remember that the only big deal was to make sure you get the torque drive power head, and from the Costco pictures it looks like their version has that (but it is worth making sure - these combos for different retail channels are confusing). We love Costco’s return policy, so if they had stocked it back then we would have paid the extra $100 (with tax), but like I said the item we got from an ebay seller was perfect, sealed and has been no trouble at all. A nice new vac is definitely a good use for the stimulus Trump bucks. Good luck!

@deb922
I absolutely love my cheap Amazon stick vac. It is exactly what I wanted as a convenient cordless quick picker upper for kitchen crumbs/messes.
I am very surprised at its usefulness for quick carpet clean ups and even upholstery.

It is metal and plastic, seems sturdy but I doubt it will have Dyson like durability.

My “real” vacuum is an expensive Miele canister so I do appreciate quality.
Just like having both.

@OneMoreToGo2021 and @musicmom, thanks for the very helpful information. Especially the torque drive power head, very helpful information.

I don’t belong to Costco at the moment. It’s an hour away and I haven’t felt the inclination to join. But I may try a membership and see f I use it. That price on the v11 seems good.
