Say I fail HS AP Calc…what kind of math will I be expected to take at CP? Are there core math requirements? Are they easy?

I’m assuming by fail you mean get a 1 or 2 on the AP? This is what I understand from their brochures:

You need to take a placement exam before the orientation. It’s like the SAT II Math IIC. This will determine what course you’ll have to take.

There’s a fundamental math course that you can skip with a 600 on the SAT I Math.

I’m just wondering if calculus is a required math, or if you can take some kind of random fluff for your core class.

You’ll need one class from this list

Nice, thanks!

That map course looks good…haha.

Yeah, I wish they had some cop-out options for the humanities category.

you also have to take a fundamental CORE, which is math220 or math 140. math 220 is like calc ab, and math 140 is like calc bc.

In groovinhard’s case would he still have to take math 140 if his sat score > 600?

Noooooo. I got a 720 on my SAT. But I currently have an E in AP Calc…(which is ok because I already have enough math credits to graduate…ahaha).

some majors require you to take certain math classes though; even if you fulfill the fundamental requirement. i failed the AP test for calc AB (2) but got a 720 on my math SAT, but still had to take math220 for the business school. lame.

if you don’t have ap credits, you still need to take math 140 (calc 1 if required by major) doesn’t matter how high your SAT score is. SAT scores can only help you pass placement exams if it’s high. If you have AP scores of 3 or higher on calculus, you don’t need to take it again.
