And does anyone know what Freshman Seminar is?

There are no specific required courses, but there are: (1) freshman seminars, which come in numerous disciplines (literally from English to history to physics, etc) and are basically NU’s approach to freshman writing classes; (2) numerous distribution requirements, including two courses each in areas like math, science, social science, history, ethics and values and one or two others. (You can find the distro categories on the NU web site.)
If you score well on some AP tests, you might be able to kill of up to 2 distros that way (although for reasons that make no sense to me, a 5 in an AP science test cannot be used; you must take 2 science distros).

The freshman seminars and language requirements are generally only for students enrolled in Weinberg. The other undergraduate schools have their own specific requirements. Overall, all NU students must take distribution requirements (by subject/area).
