I think it depends on where you live relative to Cornell… They’ll probably arrive within a week for those on the east coast, however, possibly take up to two weeks for someone who lives in Cali or outside of the US

my last post about this resume thing:

@wisdom86. I do agree that it may hurt you, since you are not applying to ILR, the only college that “strong recommends” (aka mandatory) a comprehensive resume. But I wish you luck nonetheless :-)

And about the notification date…is there anywhere online where I can confirm the Dec 12th date? I can’t seem to find any info. My cousin is applying and he wants to know.

Okay, additional info and mandantory resume are two different things. What you did was totally appropriate (excessive in my view, but that’s irrelevant). I was under the impression you sent that in as your mandatory resume to one of the colleges that requires a “resume”. Sure, what you sent in wasn’t a resume, but it’s perfectly fine in the context of “additional information”. LOL @ the people concerned about getting back to the SERIOUS BUSINESS of “OMG I want to get into Cornell so bad when will the decisions be up” and the like. No use stressing out about the decisions until at least the end of the first week of December.

dec. 12 was last year’s date
so it’s presumably the same

OKAY GUYS. Attaching a resume that is not necessary or too long will NOT hurt you. At worst, they will just ignore it and not read it. Then again, making them read crap is as horrible as it gets. So people chill, and lets play countdown to D-Day.

@wisdom

Oh okay. I mean, if the decisions letter come within a day or two after the online date, I’m fine. But if I have to wait a week or more, I’m better off not waiting for snail mail and just checking online. Online is never fun, rather have the experience ripping open a tiny envelope and screaming than reading megapixels.

Screaming for joy or…

crying and pressing submit on my other apps.

hm, I’m impatient lol I’m going to check online and simulate the mail opening experience =]

last night, I had a nightmare that I got the letter in the mail and when I opened it I turned into one of those weird aliens from the Simpsons…

better safe than sorry?

uhhh ^^… No more Cornell boards for you.

something has been bothering me ever since I submitted my application so I’ll post about it here n_n

anyhoo the story is that I waited until the last day to do most of my application, and I’m content with everything except my “additional info” section
because I sorta forgot to include the # of hours I’ve volunteered throughout HS, which is well over 500
however, I included the two main places I’ve volunteered at consistently, which adds up to around 300 hours. I included the years in HS, # of weeks, and # of hours per week on my activities list in the additional info.
also, you can sorta infer that I’ve volunteered at other places because of NHS and stuff like that.

do you think it’s okay I didn’t explicitly state that I’ve volunteered like 600ish? ;
people are telling me 300 is plenty, and I guess they’re right. but ughhhh it’s bothering me.

EDIT: I also have heard that it’s pretty obnoxious to put a definite number of hours. what should I believe? (for future reference for RD if I get rejected D: )

Probably not going to make or break a decision.

Yea, I agree with goin2college, it’s not really that significant, it most likely will not be the deciding factor in whether or not you’re accepted.

Chill out =] I’m sure you’re fine.

tbh I posted that because I was bored of studying for my Bio test LOL

i mean it does irk me, but not too much
-needs to get a life-
i spend all of my minutes awake contemplating whether i’ll get accepted or not. grr.

same! December 12th come faster!

anyone want to guess what percentage of the CCers will get accepted?

Shuai which college did you apply to?

Arts and Scienes, what about u?

Haha I’m outta college and at work :-D

my cousin is applying for Engineering, so that’s why I’m here

I do think that some CCers are far TOO qualified. It’s almost like people on CC are top 5% of the applicant pool. Not sure if anyone else feels that way.

Are you guys working on your other applications now, or are you putting them off until the last possible moment?
