Cornell 2014 ED-ers!

I am a close friend of Prinstun, and in same class with him.
I just read the things he posted, and I just realized his posts seemed boasting, as yjs1210
said.

But guys, you guys are going a bit too vicious on him.
Yeah, Yeah, I know his bias is just a crap, and I will kick his ass right tomorrow, since I also disagrees with his idea either.

Everybody, let’s just move toward other topic, and let’s just erase Prinstun from your memory. He is a good guy, I just gave him a phone call, and I can see he is just dying with shame.

OKAY. Let’s move on.
I applied to ILR also, and I will post my stats here, and you don’t have to chance me. I am just doing this for my pleasure. And please IGNORE Prinstun from now on, as I do not like to put my country’s image into the hell before even going to american college. I will DEFENETELY tell him stop posting trashes over here. Let’s not deal with a loser here.

Thank you very much, and really, let’s move on.

Have a great day everyone.

Nantaerie.

Hi, I am another Korean boy applying to COE, and now i’m just surfing around CC.

I heard that Korean science & math academies are known by admission officers. So your gpa would not hurt you i think. But you did not take many ap’s, and this would make them doubt your challenge on academics. But rest of them are just great. I think you have around 65%~70% chance on ED ILR.

As you might know, Prinstun did not write economics textbook. I just could not miss this thread 'cause one of my friends in my school called T-Ari wrote that book, and its name is Prinstun Economics. I believe your friend (who calls himself Prinstun) just put my friend’s profile on the inner-bookcover of the book onto Collegeconfidential in a very fluffed way.

T-Ari published his book just a couple of months ago, and there’s no **** like govn’t honor for teenage writer(?). And he had worked with a teacher in my school (would readers buy a book solely written by 9th Grader? i don’t think so). If you don’t believe, i will send T-Ari’s homepage through your email adress. And tell your buddy that his excuses are just so clever that even i know it’s fabricating up.

And Prinstun (as he calls himself) said that he is attending a science and math academy, but as you know, you guys are darn busy with your regular workloads so there’s no time to write a book for your buddy.

I don’t blame you, nantaerie. No offense. You just did a good job. but please, kick his asshhole with maximun power, coz I really don’t want americans think all koreans are like the s**** above.

If you and Prinstun are accepted to Cornell, please tell your buddy to apologize sincerely to T-Ari above anything else, 'Cause he also applied to Cornell (i remember it’s Hotel, but i’m not sure).

Good luck on your ED result, nantaerie and other CCers.
Sorry for another flame.

So uh… off the topic of Korean academics / ■■■■■■■■ / flame wars…

Less than 2 weeks to go! CSS profiles are all downloaded, interviews are over… The pressure is on!

Also! @ Cornelliana; don’t worry, CCers won’t make hasty generalizations about your country as a whole because of one kid… Think about how screwed America would be if everyone saw it in light of the many arses who parade around lol

Hey guys I’ve been reading these forums forever and I finally decided to get myself a username. Hasn’t this been the longest last couple of weeks of your lives? As soon as I sent my application I felt like time was going at half-speed. I just found out the other day about the decisions coming out the 10th instead of the 15th, the date I originally thought they were going to come out on, and I got so excited!

Anyways, maybe one of you guys that are applying to the CAS could help me out with a question. I was wondering how heavily your intended major is weighed? I mean I declared biological sciences because I am interested in neurobiology, and I wrote my supplement about that (among other things) and I’m currently working in a neuroscience lab at Brown, but I never took AP bio (I’m currently taking AP Physics and AP Chemistry. I never took AP bio because at our school, 2/3’s of the class is devoted to plants (which I’m not interested in at all). Do you think this will hurt my chances?

^nantaerie

I really don’t think you’re the right “fit” for ILR. ILR wants people who are interested in politics/debating/economics/law/history…etc. From your academics/ECs it’s clear that you are a math/physics person. You would have a far greater shot at CAS or COE.

Oh! I almost forgot. I was wondering if anyone got CAAAN interviews for CAS? No one who applied to Cornell from my school got them…and none of us got contacted…did anyone here?

there’s too much ■■■■■■■■ going on the cornell forum. I didn’t get a CAAAN interview for CAS. I only got a call from a sophomore o.O asking me if I had any more questions to ask about the school.

did anyone else not get any contact at all from cornell?
im getting kinda nervous hearing about all these interviews and calls

I’ll repeat what just about every other thread seems to be about lately. Interviews are handed out according to alumni availability in your area. The competitiveness of your application has nothing to do with the process. You are not hurt at all by not getting an interview. The interview only consists of talking with the alum about Cornell and they write a brief one paragraph or shorter summary of the interview to send to admissions. Sure, it’s awesome if you get one but it means NOTHING if you don’t.

Also wullster, the major you declare does NOT affect your chances and it is NOT binding iff you are applying to CAS and/or COE.

So did you guys get an email offering an interview if you had any questions? It said it would have no impact on my admission and I didn’t really have any questions, so I declined. Should I also be getting a phone interview one of these days? I’m worried now that maybe I should hae met with the alum.

What phone interview? You declined your interview (rather unwisely, imo).

i know people (who live in my large, metropolitan city) who got an unannounced call from admissions. also, the email says the interview has no impact on my application… so what was the point if i didn’t have any questions?

@malan89
thanks, ill take your word for it
i just want the 10th to be here already

That unannounced call was their “interview”. If you get contacted for an interview, you can either do it in person or via phone. You won’t get called if you declined this interview.

Okay, thanks for clarifying. I really don’t get the big deal over Cornell interviews when it specifically says it has no effect on your application. Unless they’re lying, of course. haha.

Well, maybe if you make a SUPERB impression and you really needed a little bump…who knows? It probably won’t make that big of a deal. In my opinion, it’s just a “why not” sort of thing. Why not go for it? Unless you have the privilege to be surrounded by cornell alum who can give you the insight/personal experiences, it’s a good chance to get some inside info/hang out. I think most people “freak out” because they don’t realize it isn’t a serious evaluative interview.

It certainly does have an effect on your application. Taking one and doing well will brighten up your application, while doing poorly will raise some flags, but probably not detrimentally. Declining one that was offered … well, might take a hit.

less than two weeks! i pretty much accepted the fact that i won’t get in but whatever!

^I tried to tell myself that, but I couldn’t just get myself to do it. There’s really no other college I want to go to and I’ll be crushed if I don’t get in. Of course, there’s always other colleges, but, well, I kind of don’t wanna do other apps and just stop worrying about college after dec 10th :P
