Cornell 2015 Fall Transfer Thread

It’s such a nice day in the Pacific Northwest! Ithaca is going to be a lot colder, haha. Also, what are you guys doing to pass the time during this wait?

Edit: CALS people, we can probably start trying to log into their transfer course evaluation site now: https://transeval.cals.cornell.edu. I don’t think anything will come up quite yet, but it’s worked as an early acceptance indicator for applicants in the past!

I found this on last year’s thread
https://decision.applyyourself.com/fl_login.aspx?id=cornellu
Just click “forgot your Pin or password”

For some people, it told them when their decision will be out.

@Coriander23 Stil says I’m not an accepted student. Did you get your eval?

@rendevous For me, it says “We were unable to locate your PIN…”

@puncherkid same… I guess I will check again next week

Just as an fyi, I sent CALS FA an email asking when they expect decisions, and received the following reply: Thank you for contacting our office. Please understand that the decision making process takes several weeks after the processing of your application has been completed. Admissions decisions will be released on a rolling basis starting in late April until June for fall transfer admission.

@justTryIt Means two weeks from now. wow…

@justTryIt - :o3 Oh my gosh. It said on my GT summary that decisions would be made for fall transfer applicants (in general) from mid-March to mid-May, so I guess they really are delayed. Great…

@Coriander23 I wouldn’t be surprised if you were admitted next Tuesday.

Yeah, it really puts me in a bind, as some of the other schools I’ve been accepted to need a decision by May 1st. It’s unfortunate that I may have to ‘gamble’ with my decision.

You can probably pay the deposit and just back out if you are accepted to Cornell.

@eyo777
Yeah I know, our school is rather generous at these financial aspects

@justTryIt Yup, as Heli824 said you can pay the deposit and then just cancel if you are accepted elsewhere after. Only thing is you won’t get a refund, but it shouldn’t be a large sum anyway.

@MacchaBunny Came as a real surprise to me, I expected full tuition for OOS
You go to UMich now? What’s your reason for transfer? I see you’re applying for math.

Is transeval down for anyone else?

What’s the deal with the trans eval thing? I see some long thing about the process, but at the bottom, there’s a note that I am not identified as an accepted applicant at this time.

This is what is shown when I go on Transeval. It’s weird because at the bottom it says I am not shown as an accepted student, but at the top, “If you have any questions regarding the major you were accepted to…” Very Curious.

Welcome

Your Major:
If you have any questions regarding the major you were accepted to, please contact CALS Admissions by email at cals_admissions@cornell.edu or by phone at 607.255.7688.

The Courses you have taken at your previous institution(s) have been evaluated carefully within the context of a CALS Degree. The link below will direct you to your preliminary credit evaluation. Course work currently in progress has not been evaluated. Once a final transcript is received indicating grades of C or better, the course work is eligible for further evaluation into the CALS Distribution requirements.

Your preliminary credit evaluation evaluates your college degree requirements (not your major requirements). A course can be applied to only 1 distribution requirement. Courses that are listed can be used to fulfill both Major requirements and College graduation requirements. If you are concerned about how your course work will transfer towards your major requirements you need to consult with your department advising coordinator. If you have questions after reviewing your credit evaluation, please feel free to email cals-studentservices@cornell.edu.

College credit earned while in high school (this includes all credits earned prior to earning a high school diploma or equivalent) will need further documentation before they can be accepted. Your credit award will be finalized upon your enrollment in CALS and receipt of your final transcript. You must receive grades of C or better for all your courses to be eligible for transfer into CALS.

If you have AP credit, you must send an official copy of your AP score report to Cornell for the credits to be awarded to your record. AP Credits will not appear on your preliminary credit evaluation, however you can view our AP chart to see what scores may earn you credit.

You are allowed to transfer a maximum of 60 credits.

Our records do not show you as an accepted student in CALS.

@villuhfc This is a template form that is automatically filled out once your credentials are found in a database. Basically, none of our records are in database yet, and that’s why we all see a blank template.

That is very weird.
Coincidentally, I got an email from Cornell mentioning my lack of mid-term report, along with a time period of 10 days to respond, so perhaps they’ve finished organizing. Most should hopefully expect to hear some results sometime soon if that’s the case…

So being able to access it is nothing special? Just seemed as if not they wouldn’t give every applicant access to something that starts with “If you have any questions regarding the major you were accepted to.” Probably just me getting my hopes up though, haha.

@eyo777 I think most CALS applicants will get their decisions by the end of April, some in early May.

@villuhfc I got the link before I submitted my application, and the content was exactly the same…
