@BluLegacy Please calm down buddy. Your posts are making other people anxious, on top of the unneeded stress you are putting on yourself. I can feel how much you want this and understand you are nervous right now, but just take a deep breath and enjoy your life. As important as all of this seems right now, it means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of life. You are in good health, excelling academically, and obviously an extremely ambitious person.
Attending a college that reduces your financial burden may make things a lot easier, but if you truly want to continue your college education you will find a way regardless. You may have to work an on campus job and take out some unpleasant loans, but there is no reason why in 2015 you cannot graduate from your local state college. There are many state and federal programs that help ease the financial burden for students like you.
Despite what you may think, going to Cornell will not make your life. It will not even make your college experience. The moment you are accepted your outlook on all of this will radically change, it will simply be something you once accomplished. New goals will consume your mind and those goals will seem like the most important thing for the immediate future. However, after a while you will have accomplished those new goals, and the cycle will start all over. Attending Cornell might make your job search easier the first year or two out of college, but in all actuality you are simply being give admission to an exclusive club. Members of this club hold only one thing, the title of having attended an Ivy League school. This title undoubtedly buys you favoritism and goodwill from our societies most elitist, you may even be able score a prized investment banking job through some good ol Ivy League nepotism, but it will not determine whether or not you are successful in life. Your success will be determined by the opportunities you create for yourself and how you build on those opportunities, not by membership to some club.
Just enjoy living in the moment, because the buildup to any event is always more exciting than its finale.
@Blulegacy
Responding to your implicit “chance me/stats” post…Sorry for the tough love but you will probably not get in. Just based on your stats.
Additionally, on behalf of this entire thread, please make another thread to address any other concerns you have for aid/your anxiety issues. This is a general thread, and too much of the discussion has been dominated by you. If you could refrain from blowing it up every hour that would be great as well! Thanks! :-bd
@bman10 Actually I don’t really think so, for @BluLegacy is a non-traditional student with a 4.0 GPA. If he has written an excellent essay that gives solid reasons for transferring, then I’d say he’ll have a good shot at getting in.
BUT yes, I agree that this thread is used for discussing general topics about transferring. @BluLegacy, I also highly recommend that you start a new thread posting your personal concerns. Folks will then be able to give more effective advice and we will again concentrate on what should be discussed in this thread.
Thank you. Good luck to everyone who’s still waiting for decisions.
@BluLegacy I’m sorry you’re so stressed. Just know you’re not alone. But no one can chance you, admissions vary depending on the pool every semester. Just remain optimistic!!
Everyone on this thread should remain positive. We will most likely hear this week or the next. We can do nothing but hope for the best!! Good luck!!
@BluLegacy If it helps put things into perspective, I almost died about 30 minutes ago in a car wreck; the cop said I should play the lottery after what happened. The place you get your undergraduate degree from really shouldn’t be your biggest concern at the moment. Focus on things that you can actually change, like your semester grades, have faith that you will end up where you belong, and don’t be too afraid of loans. Your application is in, it’s in their hands. Now, I’m gonna go have a few shower beers to wash off this near-death scent. Goodnight world.
@ShunnedTransfer Wow, I’m glad you’re okay man, that’s insane…crazy how life can go in an instant. You guys definitely helped put my mind at ease for the time being and I really appreciate you guys giving me solid advice. Thank you.
@OrangeJ my stuff got sent in a little late cus the process to get my transfer college report took like a long time, I’d say I think it was around April 2nd or so?
Got my transeval updated too. Only change is that now my major is showing up and the highlighted message at the bottom of the page now says ‘No transfer credit evaluation is available.’ However, I still cannot get my PIN…
