Accepted to: Information Science in CALS
Entering as: Junior
High School GPA: C (went to public high school in South Korea and did really bad there)
College1 GPA: 4.21/4.5 (attended university in Korea for one semester right after I graduated high school. Took very very rigorous set of courses. majored in Information Science)
College2 GPA: 4.0/4.0 (currently enrolled in community college that has the articulation agreement with CALS in NY. Currently taking 4th semesters here. Biology major)
SAT: 690/800/790 (Superscore of two tests)
SAT II: Not taken
Credits taken (including current semester): 80
EC: 3 academic papers. I visited San Diego and Las Vegas to present my researches in famous conferences.
Essay: I showed my strong and specific interest in Information Science.
LoR: I have no idea. Not sure if my professors wrote really good letters for me.
I have been preparing to transfer since late 2012. I researched as much as I can to transfer into Cornell info sci, since then. This is the only reason I moved to NY by myself from South Korea. Visited Ithaca several times to motivate myself. This means a lot to me.

Rejected. Congrats to everyone who got accepted.
It seems that CHE usually accepts students during the early April. I am very nervous right now, because I haven’t heard anything back.
I just wanted to thank everyone for being so helpful and passionate about the whole process. It really helped a lot and our stats can help future applicants too. Cheer up guys, it’s far from the end of the world!
Here are my stats again if anyone is interested, this time with some extra stuff that might end up useful
Applying: CALS Biology and Society
Current School: Boston University <- school known for grade deflation, so I think that might’ve balanced out my not a 4.0 GPA D:
Current GPA: 3.8 (Overall) 3.83 (Major GPA, not that it really makes a difference)
Credits: 32 (Took all of the pre-requisites and I have a couple of them fulfilled for next year as well.) <- I think this is really important, they say required courses after all. Try really hard to get all the required courses completed!
High School GPA: 87… It came from the second best public high school in New York if that counts for anything 
(Bronx Science) <- average accepted GPA for Cornell out of high school was around 93, but I’m not 100% sure because I don’t have access to my naviance anymore. I was way far off in this category, but I had an upswing and they didn’t really count my negatives as much I guess!
SAT: 2150 (CR: 680 M: 750 WR: 720) <- standard SAT score I guess haha
My recommendations were from a Princeton alumni and Cornell alumni. They both held pretty high positions at BU and I was very close to both of them. I treated them more like friends than professors. They definitely saw my ambition and passion pretty well. Recommendations help a lot I’m guessing!!! I don’t know why I didn’t include this before…
Essay: this is said every year on practically every post, but definitely make your essays very specific!
ECs: <- try to put as many relevant things, I had a lot of random filler stuff because I felt like they were still relevant and showed that I push myself.
- 2 paid restaurant jobs (a lot of hours, like a lot)
- Volunteer for Let's Get Ready teaching math and critical reading to underprivileged high school students (~50 hours, but ongoing and planning to continue at Cornell if I get in)
- Volunteer for the Chinese-American Planning Council as a teachers assistant (~200 hours)
- Volunteered at the Chinese Hospital, Fujian Provincial Cancer Hospital, assisting the nurses in taking care of patients and doing other errands (~100 hours)
- Shadowed a general physician (~100 hours)
- Shadowed a surgeon (in China) (~80 hours)
- Vice president of the Science and Comic Drawing Society, running the production of a comic series based on science
- Member of the Premedical Society at Boston University
- Member of a Dance Club
- Something else, but I can't really recall it at the moment.

@HIMYM17 Congrats! Could you tell me if ILR received your midterm before the March 15th deadline? I think they received mine on the 20th, which is hopefully the reason why it is taking a bit.
