Hi,
I have my alumni interview today. What I would like to discuss is the location. My alumni’s young daughter attends the same school as me. She asked if I could meet her at her daughter’s basketball practice in the gym.
I am just curious as to how y’all think this might go. I have gone to many sports practices and none of them have parents or spectators in the stands. I can only imagine that it is going to be a gym full of 4th graders and a mom and a senior sitting alone in the bleachers having an informal interview.
I know that these interviews are very informal, and I’m totally comfortable with that, but I just can’t imagine how this interview will work, haha!

It couldn’t hurt. Do whatever is comfortable for you. If you don’t mind, just do whatever is comfortable for her, which in this case is meeting at a gym. Good luck!

This just reminded me of someone else’s interview lol. They had a Harvard interview at a swimming pool while the interviewer was yelling at her son who was at swim practice and kept telling her her son wouldn’t make it to Harvard because he couldn’t swim well. Needless to say it didn’t go too well. Sorry it’s not very encouraging, but each person is different so you shouldn’t worry too much. Just be yourself and you’ll be fine.

Thank you for your replies! The interview was actually ok. Granted, her daughters repeatedly came up to her with the “mommy! mommy!” thing, but they were sweet and good for awkward silences! It was so informal that it really didn’t matter where we met.
