Cornell C of A&S Chemistry & Chemistry Biology

How rigorous is the undergrad major of chemistry and chemistry & biology in the college of arts ad sciences? How tough is it compared to ChemE at Cornell University? Any similarities and differences? I prefer more of the chemical sciences than the rigorous math, so do you think majoring in chemistry and chemistry & biology would be a better fit than Chemical Engineering?

Thanks so much

Suggest do Chemical Engineering if you think you want to be a chemical engineer.
Otherwise do something else.

I imagine they will both be “tough”.
Back in the dark ages, chemical engineering was among the reputedly hardest engineering disciplines.
On the other hand, I imagine that at virtually any “top” school, in chemistry it would probably be harder to avoid pre-med majors whose life depends on getting top grades . I did not personally experience this at Cornell, but then I was not a Chemistry major.

But, beyond the “core” courses, the upper level courses would mostly not be the same.
So what you think you want to do with your life really matters for this decision.
Maybe do some research about what chemical engineers do.

And the other college requirements/ distribution requirements/ opportunities for electives, outside of your major, are also different.
