Cornell CALS vs CAS acceptance rate

Does anyone have Cornell CALS or CAS acceptance rates? I’m leaning toward applying to CALS but just curious since both colleges have a biology major. If I’m interested in biology with a concentration in either biochemistry or genetics, genomics, and development should I just apply to CALS anyway?

Cornell Cals acceptance rate is 14%

I would look at the coursework, both intro and upper level, the major, distribution, and college requirements.

If you are female, you would have had a better shot at Ag last year but if male, better odds at A&S. (Screen name Joe so perhaps male?)

Ag F = 15.9%, M = 13.3%
A&S F = 13.8%, M = 15.8%

Not enough of a difference to influence your decision. I would apply where you think you will best fit. These figures wander from year to year across genders and schools within the university.

^^ This. For example, A&S requires language courses and fine arts as part of their distribution requirements, along with social sciences (and of course math and science), while CALS has distribution requirements that focus more on humanities and writing, along with the required science and quantitative courses for all majors. Also, the CALS seems to focus a lot on how well your credentials fit the major you’re applying for, while A&S doesn’t have you apply to a major at all.

Will you be annoyed at having to fulfill a language requirement? On the other hand, how well does your resume fit your biology major aspirations?
