Hi! I’m an upcoming senior, and I plan to apply Early Decision to either Cornell’s College of Human Ecology or Tufts College of Arts and Sciences. At Cornell, i would probably major in Human Development or Policy, while at Tufts I would major in Community Health and or Cognitive Science. Which one should I ED to, and what are the benefits to both? Negatives? Does Cornell’s College of Human Ecology restrict you more than Tufts’s College of Arts and Sciences in terms of classes and paths that can be taken (aka which is more flexible). Thanks!
I suggest you look into the in-college course/credit requirements at the various colleges you are considering.
A few years ago my son was considering Hum Ec, and he was put off partly by the # credits in Hum Ec outside his major that he would have to take. You might not have a problem with this though, since it seems you are interested in more than one of the programs of study offered by the college…
Traditionally Arts & sciences is considered the most flexible college, basically everywhere. But I know nothing about the majors and requirements at Tufts. I would point out that Cornell also has a college of Arts & Sciences, and you can apply there instead of Hum Ec if that program of studies, with its inherent flexibility, suits you better.
Then one gets into generic differences between Cornell and Tufts. Which include size, scope, location, setting.
