Cornell Chemistry

It’s known that the Chemistry in Cornell is one of the best. The question is, why exactly is it better than other schools? What does the chemistry department offer that others don’t?

great professors, groundbreaking research, access to research, innovative teaching styles, the list goes on.

It is small and world-class. You will have lots of access to faculty and research.

the stairs to Baker lab are good exercise for you.

The dude that designed Baker Lab was a sadist.

what about the workload?

Let’s put it this way. Cornell Chemistry has a separate track of classes just for chem majors, so that means you won’t be stuck with all the premeds for your classes, and you’ll get to know all the other majors a lot better. There’s also a lot of camaraderie between the chem majors, so you’ll always have someone to work on problem sets with you. It’s hard to talk about workload…it’s just like any other science. But you will spend a lot of time in lab, so there’s a big time-load.

i love lab

How hard is it to get an A?

Why are you asking?

Why do you think I would ask the question?
Because I want to major in it.
I want to transfer from Penn state (if I get in) to Cornell’s chemistry department.

Chem courses are going to be tougher than bio courses generally. Of course, individual course difficulty can vary. Anytime, you take a hard science (math, bio, chem, and physics) or engineering, you have to be prepared to do a lot of work.
