yes that is what admission told me
@ArthurDent42 best unofficial 3x3 pb is 8.90 and no I didn’t go since sc is really far away. My common app essay is about speed cubing though
There’s no freaking way I’m trimming 100 words from my essay. The common app clearly states 650 words for CALS. BTW GUYS, adcoms/essays are different for each college. I’ll try to check with CALS when I can. I’ve spent a whole year writing this supplement essay lmao
Okay but you’re risking adcoms noticing you’ve gone over limit. They might not be aware of the inconsistencies their school has been telling applicants.
@crossovercuber I live in SC so it was a convenient stroke of luck…damn sub-10 my best is 29…have you been to previous Nats?
@ArthurDent42 none of the nats have been close enough but I have been to 3 local comps. Competition pb is like 13.xx
It is clearly written in CA that the limit is 650 words. Since we are applying through CA and while uploading there was no problem, I think we should not bother about the mistakes and follow the instructions in CA. I have uploaded my supplement 7 days back without any problem and my one is 550 words long. My original one was 500 words but I have extended it to 550 words and uploaded it without any problem at all.
@crossovercuber Cornell hosts cubing competitions every year, so looking forward to that if I get in: http://union.cubingusa.com/cornellopen2014/
@JohnAhmed I stand with you on this. <=150 more words won’t kill the admissions officers, they should have made up their minds about this in August at the latest, not October.
@ArthurDent42 hope we can both be there!
@crossovercuber Damn right man! Would be pretty cool to have that opportunity, among the many other opportunities Cornell offers…I wonder if they have a Cubing Club…
@ArthurDent42 I don’t think they do
@crossovercuber Searched the Cornell Student Organizations Website and found this: https://orgsync.com/72292/chapter
@ArthurDent42 hmm didn’t see it on the speedsolving wiki
Can somebody chance me??? I really want to get into ILR!

ILR is the right school for me because it is where professors from interdisciplinary areas come and teach students knowledge on workplaces around the world.
Is the supplement ok??? I am so worried right now omggggg. Thanks!
Solid scores/grades, physics could have been a bit higher …
Great ECAs/Leadership, recommendation seems very diverse (mcdonalds manager)
Im applying to CAS so I dont know about ILR … but essay sounds great. If your essays are good, I’d say you have a decent chance of getting in! Don’t forget, however, that Cornell is an Ivy, and Ivies aren’t that predictable, so don’t get too stressed about chances.
@vancouverwhales how many words is your supplement?? I’m applying to ILR too and my essay is around 600 words. Should I work on cutting it down?
I have heard, as someone said before, that the athletes end up at AEM. I am curious why, bc that. program has a 7% acceptance rate. Surely they don’t let more than a few athletes choose it? They only accept a hundred or so freshman as it is! Anyone have intel?
there’s a mother thread for chances, let’s not fill this one up with those
@kolakoala I wrote about 550 words and I think it’s enough. The admission officers don’t want to read too much lol
I don’t think they will be mad with anyone with 650 words in their supplemental because I went to their website and under forms the PDF I opened said 650 and the Common App said 650 too.
Unless I had visited this thread I would have never even known there was a discrepancy between the number of words allowed on the CA and what Cornell supposedly wants.
