Cornell Class of 2028 Official Thread

For new parents and students of the class of 2028-
If you want to join one of the Facebook pages, PLEASE look at the admins. Some of these pages are run by companies and are not affiliated with the university.
1-no university Facebook page should be charging you to join (some of these are charging and students are paying)
2-Cornell does not run any Facebook parent or student pages. Look for pages run by parents.
3-If the admins are not parents, then they are run by companies to data mine or sell you products.
4-These pages have fake profiles that post as parents to get you to buy merch that they profit from. The only official ā€œclass ofā€ shirt is free from Cornell.

As a Cornell parent since 2018, these companies that run pages have taken over and want your data and money.

Is anyone aware of what’s going on there on campus?

If y’all recieved your financial aid offers can you let me know how much more it is than your net price calculator?

I’m an alum building out Cornell-GPT for answering admin or student life questions. Hope it can be helpful to you as you make your decisions or get ready for next year

Oops, links didnt share Cornell-GPT (cornell-gpt dot com)

Ours was $27,000 more than the Cornell net price calculator. We triple-checked all our CSS and net price calculator numbers and they were all correct. The estimate even jives with FAFSA. We sent in an appeal, and it fell on deaf ears. I’ll send you a PM with more details if you’d like.

27 thousand??? And the FA Office didn’t even respond?? I’m so sorry about that, I’d appreciate some more information if you’re willing in private messages.

The parent contribution in my daughter’s financial aid is about $20k more than FAFSA’s SAI number. I did email the financial aid office, got reply that it might change slightly once FAFSA data is inputted to their system. So far no update yet in the admitted students portal and no info in the student center. Has anyone received final financial aid offer from Cornell yet? If yes, where is that information and what’s the deadline to accept it?

My estimate also shows 22k over our NPC parent contribution, I plan to submit an appeal too but it’s dissapointing. Have you tried the NPC? It might be different from the SAI. (Also I don’t think SAI is the same as parent contribution)

The official COA minus SAI is your calculated full need for attending. Does the total grant amount in the estimate meet (or nearly meet) your calculated full need?

I read the same thing about SAI but that’s not what SAI is, I’m pretty sure it’s a misconception about what the SAI means. With the grant my estimated cost of attendance is 22k more than what the NPC says I would have to contribute.

There are sitting experts at What's Your FAFSA Status? to whom you can ask questions.
I think they are better positioned to answer your questions.

Ok cool thanks!

What was the final selection? My student came off the waitlist on the two of them, Cornell and UCLA. Now trying to decide…

Has anyone found a fix for being stuck on the contacts page?
