Cornell College of Engineering

So I was told in order to get it you would have show that you are really good at math or science. I did take AP physics and get a A in the class, took SAT got 800 on math as well as getting 800 on both math 2 and physics subject tests. Is the fact that I haven’t take an AP math until senior year a bad thing or is the above achievements enough to show I am good at math and science?

Congrats on your high math scores! My son is at Cornell engineering and his first math AP class was senior year - but that is because it was the earliest he could take a math AP class. Our high school is pretty small and doesn’t offer a lot of APs. So the answer to your question depends on your high school. As long as you took the most rigorous courses in your high school along the way, your high scores will show the admissions committee that you can do the work. Good luck! My son loves the engineering program at Cornell, and life at the university in general, so I highly recommend applying!

Not at all. The only purely math based AP classes are AP Calc AB/BC and AP stats, both of which are taken by mostly seniors. Some juniors take AP Stats, but for the most part, seniors will only take 1 or both AP math classes senior year. I think your SAT II scores are indiciative enough of your math abilities. Good luck!
