bump… let’s stay on task here fellas ;)

I think cornell’s a match, dart and amherst are reaches. BTW, you do Systema? That is so freakin awesome!

omg, how do you know about systema??? are you russian? i didn’t know people actually knew about it…

last bump… Thanks to adummb05 and carwash for replying!
I’d like a couple more opinions please. Btw, I’m thinking about Cornell’s ILR, is that school any good? Also, plz answer my question up top: I know that race greatly affects the admissions decisions at top schools, but what about nationality?
Thank you

Your SAT I and II scores are a bit low for the latest Cornell standards, and in my opinion Dartmouth and Amherst are out of the question. Martial Arts won’t be too exciting, seeing as I’m sure no college wants to bring a violent person into there school. Same with the NRA thing. Northeastern liberal colleges won’t be too excited to admit a gun-head. Try going somewhere down south, like Tulane, or Rice. They match you, and Rice has a good technology program. EC’s are a must, so I don’t think your going to be an Ivy student. Your ethnicity isn’t going to help you here, and I don’t see much in your future from an Eastern college. Set your hopes for something in the Bible-Belt. OU might fit, but they might be a slight reach. Your good, don’t get me wrong, but I just think you should reset your standards. But then again, What do I know?

Good Luck
Velocity
Amherst Graduate

almost all of aspects of your application are below par. You have a decent gpa and decent scores but nothing awesome in the field of academics. Your gun interests are alarming and are generally not well received at norhteastern colleges. Being Russian will have little to no effect. Good luck

haha… I do hope that velocity’s post was a big joke. I think my sat is at least at or above average for all three of these schools and I’d like to point out that the “NRA thing” you’re referring to does not alone define me as an applicant. Bible-Belt? I don’t think so
It is painfully sad to see how ignorant some liberals get… There is irony in the fact that I first became interested in Amherst after reading a book by a conservative Amherst graduate specifically on the importance of the preservation of firearm rights in the U.S.

Thank you for expressing your honest opinions however. I appreciate and consider all input.

Don’t let anyone get you down, you have a good chance. Especially at Cornell, from what I know.

oh my god… “Martial Arts won’t be too exciting, seeing as I’m sure no college wants to bring a violent person into there school.” - Velocity, AMHERST GRADUATE

That’s pretty amazing that a supposedly educated person associates martial arts with violence rather than personal protection…

I shall amend my original request. Looking for OPEN MINDED, INTELLIGENT people to evaluate my chances.

Thank you, no offense to our resident Amherst graduate.

P.S. If this is what a Liberal Arts education does to a person, I might have to reevaluate my choice of schools…

You have a good chance at each of these schools.

Velocity has claimed to have graduated from Harvard, Princeton, Darmouth, Amherst, and Yale. He or she also claims to be applying to college.

yea, i looked through his other posts and saw it too. he seems to be pretty new too so i’m sure he’s just fooling around

Should i get rid of the NRA info in my resume though? because a couple of my teachers also advised me to reconsider including that point… I have chosen different topics for my essays but I still mentioned it in the res… This seems pretty odd to me however, since all these schools claim to be looking for original and diverse students, and I’m sure they don’t get many applications from NRA members. And why does any interest in firearms carry such a negative connotation nowadays, even at “liberal” institutions of learning?
Thanks
