Cornell ED Class of 2021 Discussion Thread

Being deferred is such a mind game. It’s like asking a girl out, and her saying “You’re okay” so now you gotta go to the gym just to prove yourself worthy like dang this is not a healthy relationship

Do you guys think we’ll have a high chance of getting accepted Regular Decision though? @Lincsanity @plsacceptmelol

dude i hope so. The way I’m rationalizing it is that because SHA is such a specialized school, the people who actually want to go there would have applied early and the people that are applying regular only applied there as an aferthought.

SO MANY PPL GOT REJECTED OR DEFERRED OMG

Do you guys have any tips on what someone who has been deferred should do in order to inc their chances

Did you guys schedule interviews for SHA?

yeah I already had mine in October. The dude was super chill

Was your interview on the 21st?

I had my interview in October as well… My interviewer looked like she was wearing pajamas and her hair was in a messy bun it seemed kind of unprofessional…

Rejected from CAS.

Anyone here get accepted into Human EC? Specifically, what about HBHS? Im really disappointed that I got deferred. I can’t think of ways to improve my apps besides grades by the end of march

Accepted to CAS! If anyone else who was accepted wants to exchange Facebook contact info please pm me! It would be cool to meet some future classmates.

AWESOME! Congrats!

@cotopaxi thank you and congratulations to you too! Meet up for coffee in Ithaca? haha

Congratulation on all who got accepted.
If you are deferred and still interested in Cornell, you can be proactive with the RD round.

  1. Finish your other RD applications in next few weeks.
  2. In mid Jan, have your GC or yourself call adcom to inquire what was weak in your application. Do not call now.
  3. If you can, address those weaknesses by having your GC write another LOR.
  4. Get a packet together to be sent in by end Feb - another essay, additional LORs (1 or 2), interim grades, and if you have additional awards.
  5. keep up your senior grades. You will need them for your RD applications, and you may even them if you are waitlisted.

My older kid was deferred to her ED, was rejected by most schools and was WL at 2 top 20 schools. She did end up getting off both of those WL schools, and one of them was Cornell. It is not over until it is over. The most important thing for all who were deferred or rejected is to keep up your grades. You will need your 1st semester grades, second semester interim grades, and maybe even your final senior grades to get off your WL schools.

@iwtgtc2017 What date did you have the interview?

Just got into CAS. Anyone thinking if a major in government?

@BX jk I had my interview on September 18

@iwtgtc2017 @BX @Lincsanity I was deferred from SHA too. ): It seems like only one person on this thread got accepted… most got deferred and a couple got rejected on this thread!

@Lincsanity I agree… and I’ve heard that the ED acceptance rate for SHA is lower/the same as RD so I guess being deferred isn’t the worst possible thing that could happen
