Cornell Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

Tried pin trick and it didn’t work. I’m a regular transfer student from a community college applying to college of engineering. Fin aid checklist is complete except for transcript, which is still at initialized. I guess this means there is still hope.

Hi Can anyone tell me how to do the pin trick? I applied to ILR.
I still haven’t submitted my mid-term report since my school started the semester very late. Any chance I’ll get rejected right away?

Edit: On the phone with Ian right now and to quote him, “Decisions will be out tomorrow on a rolling basis”!

@whostolemycookie Click forgot pin then enter your email.

@kcasssuu Why do you think that means rejection?

Getting my decision tomorrow as a non-GT transcript-initiated ILR applicant from a NY cc, posting stats here and please chance me!

College GPA: 3.9
Credits: 49 completed 12 taking(61 total)
ILR relevant classes: Principles of Accounting I(A), Principles of Accounting II(A), Academic Writing I(A), Academic Writing II(A-), MacroEcon(A), MicroEcon(A), Business Law I(A), Business Law II(A, currently taking), Intro to Sociology(A), Fundamentals of Speech(A), American National Government(A), Statistics(B).
High school GPA: 1.83 due to arrogance
Extracurriculars: Serving two fellowships at church for more than 22+ hours per week, went to North Korea several times.
Scores: 1540 NEW SAT

Other schools applied to: Columbia(accepted), UVA(accepted), Baruch College(accepted).
Please share some feedback with me I’m sort of freaking out right now. Good luck to everyone you guys all deserve an acceptance letter!

@yanlaodun911 Great job, those are nice stats! I’d say you have an excellent shot.

@yanlaodun911 how did you already get your Columbia accepted decision? Columbia hasn’t come out yet?

@yanlaodun911 I’m also a non-GT ILR applicant. You shouldn’t freak out. You’ve already been accepted to some great schools and your stats look awesome. I would’ve said high school may be a bit of an issue but it seems to not really have hurt your application. Great work

@yanlaodun911 Question though, I also applied to UVA and decisions are supposed to start releasing this Thursday if I’m not mistaken. Did I miss a wave earlier?

uva has not come out yet and Iam guaranteed transfer to UVA

Thanks very much for the feedback! But I already applied twice(high school regular and last year) for Dyson, Cornell probably doesn’t like me so much…

pin trick worked! Tomorrow 10am…but I guess my chances are very slim since Ian sounded very concerned when my mid-term report wasnt turned in yet and said to do so ASAP… any ideas?

@whostolemycookie check the status of your transfer transcript in your finaid to do list

@charletterp if you didn’t apply for finaid, then yeah there’s no checklist for you

@OwlOfAthena :slight_smile:

@grundeis I received the welcome packet on Thursday in my mail box, I haven’t receive the acceptance email nor can I view it on the portal…hopefully they were not making any mistakes! BTW I had a 2-hour long interview with an alumnus earlier this month, maybe that helped? have no idea…

@enviscimath11 it still says initiated but I’ve been having trouble with submitting my FA documents lately. Does this mean bad news?

@whostolemycookie Did you submit your mid-term report?

@whostolemycookie if you still have finaid supplements that you were supposed to submit but will view your decision tmrw, then it doesn’t sound good :frowning:

@yanlaodun911 Are you a guaranteed transfer option to Columbia? Where are you applying from and what were your Columbia results in previous iterations?

Here are my stats.

GPA: 4.0
Credits: 88 completed, taking 23 (yea, I know)
Graduating community college with double major in computer science and mechanical engineering.
I’m a bit weak on extracurriculars, but I have tutored in the tutoring center for the last year.
1430 new SAT
I’m a legacy student as well.

I’ve been accepted to RPI, Union College and UMass Amherst honors college, still wailing on Northeastern and Boston University, and of course Cornell, my first choice. I know my SATs are a bit low for Cornell, but I’m hoping my GPA, double major and legacy status makes up the difference, fingers crossed!

@charletterp Thanks for the feedback, I really hope that Cornell cares more about my college performance than my high school tragedy hahaha. As for UVA I applied last year and accepted for the Spring term, but due to some issues it wasn’t advisable for me to move to Virginia, so I had discussions with them about the issues I had and was granted admission for the Fall term as long as my GPA is at certain level.
