Cornell Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

so i have been looking through threads from past years and found some items of note. first, i’ll link those other threads here:

Cornell Fall 2018 Transfer: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/2027613-cornell-fall-2018-transfer-thread-p1.html
Cornell Fall 2018 Transfer Results: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/2075110-cornell-fall-2018-transfer-results-thread-p1.html
Cornell Fall 2017 Transfer (starting on May 2, a release day): http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/1927717-cornell-fall-2017-transfer-p160.html

it looks like the first two or so weeks or so contain largely rejections. The 2017 thread specifically shows that many people who tried the pin trick before the 5/2 date were rejected (mainly CAS). Last year (2018), someone in the results page commented that many community college students were rejected even though they had desirable stats. I have been trying to sift through these threads for a while now, so let me know if there is anything else you think I should look for.

@glassturtle The first two or so weeks - do you mean the first wave?

@oceansquare yeah the first “wave” if that’s what we are calling it… like late april through early may decisions

@glassturtle Thanks for the info.
Are you a community college student? I am.

@glassturtle Gotcha. Just wanted to clarify. So what are we expecting for the second wave who will probably be mostly non-TO’s?

Looks like I’m waiting another week as well. And it looks like, again, that’s a good sign as non TOs seem to be the ones getting rejected in the early going.

i would also like to clarify, my post applies to non guaranteed transfer/transfer option students

@zwetsch yeah I am a community college student!!

@oceansquare unfortunately it looks like mostly rejections for this week (second week of decisions) the 2017 thread was way clearer on that, with ppl posting their actual results and when the pin trick worked for them. some people even seemed bummed out about the pin trick working at that point. in 2018, there weren’t as many ppl who posted their actual outcome, however, ppl did refer to that week as being a week for rejections

@glassturtle If we’re still seeing “Initiated” and the pin trick didn’t work (albeit, I don’t remember if I applied my senior year or not) does that mean I’m not getting my decision tomorrow? The PIN trick should be working atm, right?

Also, do you know any patterns for the School or Architecture? Thank you ?

@oceansquare yeah if the pin trick didn’t work for you and you’re still on initiated, you’re safe for now (if you didn’t apply senior year, if you did, i’m not sure)!! haha that sounds so ominous. but yeah is it possible for you to go back through your email archives or wherever to determine if you did apply? because if you did, i can’t say if you will be receiving a result for tomorrow or not

and unfortunately i am not aware of any patters for either of those… it was easier to look for trends in say, CAS or Dyson, just bc it seems like more people applied to those schools and/or post about it on college confidential

if i applied to Cornell last year in high school, will the pin trick not work for me at all?

@wanjunhing yes you will get two emails with a password reset

I understand that this question may be repetitive, and I have gone through previous posts. I am still having trouble understanding something about the pin.

If I have never applied to Cornell and I try the pin trick, would anything happen? As of now, the website says it is unable to locate my pin.

For those searching for the pin link in this thread, it is on page 46; it was a pain in the ass to find it lmao

Here is the pin link further up the ladder… https://decision.applyyourself.com/?id=cornellu

I am so sad right now… I applied to Cornell in the senior year using a different email… so pin trick worked this time… I guess I will be rejected by Cornell two times. That’s unfortunate.

@TurboPio the full description of the pin trick is on this page: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/2081957-cornell-fall-2019-transfer-thread-p34.html

@youcandoooit i’m sorry you’re feeling sad!! just remember, it’s not a guaranteed rejection. this is all conjecture and putting puzzle pieces together-- nothing is certain at this point. you will know tomorrow morning, that’s the only thing that’s certain!! and if it is a rejection, don’t fret, you still have great things ahead and a whole life to live  i’m rooting for you!!!

I’m rooting for both of you. and BTW glassturtle congrats on Williams!

Thank you so much glassturtle! I will figure it out tomorrow. Even I stay at the current college, I guess I will be fine.
