Cornell FinAid packet

Hello,

I just got accepted into Cornell CALS as a transfer students.

When I applied for aid, my efc=10.000 with income of 80k, but no assets. But since I applied for the aid, my dad is getting laid off his job, which means we are losing its only income.

I assume I will get packet of 40k grants+some student loans( tuition-efc:56-10).

But since the situation has changed, will I be able to appeal for a packet with zero family contribution.

PS I have 60 credits to complete. Will cornell support me only for two more years?

yours will be among a case by case basis…

you should hopefully be able to get an adjustment based on your situation :)

Goodluck… I would think they would review your situation. Keep in mind if your dad received a hefty package upon losing his job, you may not see any adjustment this year. If he gets a job soon than next year they would be looking at his 2011 earning. You will probably get a very nice package depending on how long he is out of work this coming year. I hope things go well for you. Be sure when you appeal to include the obvious that you have no idea when he will be employed again and the package he received will be the only money your family will have to pay the mortgage etc… I know I am stating the obvious but you need to write a good letter. If there are health issues or high mortgage or anything else include it.

By the way, Congratulations on your acceptance!
