Cornell FinAid packet

Hello,

I just got accepted into Cornell CALS as a transfer students.

When I applied for aid, my efc=10.000 with income of 80k, but no assets. But since I applied for the aid, my dad is getting laid off his job, which means we are losing its only income.

I assume I will get packet of 40k grants+some student loans( tuition-efc:56-10).

But since the situation has changed, will I be able to appeal for a packet with zero family contribution.

PS I have 60 credits to complete. Will cornell support me only for two more years?

Congrats on your acceptance! If your father is unable to find employment they may consider a special circumstances adjustment after an appropriate amount of time. Usually schools will want to wait since many people will find other work within 4-6 months. Do a search of their FA website for “professional judgement” and/or “special circumstances” to find out what their procedure is…or contact them after your dad is out of work.

How many credits do you have now? I doubt that you’d be cut off at 120 credit hours but they may have some upper limit like 180 total hours. Again, check with Cornell.
