I received about 6k from schools like Vanderbilt, Bowdoin, UVA, Northwestern…but for some reason I received roughly 40k from Cornell. Is this possible, or a mistake?

Its possible but contact school if it appears to be a mistake.

What was your EFC? Cornell usually meets 100% of need.

The $6K would suggest fairly high income, over $125K would be my guess and average assets. $40K would suggest fairly low income, probably under $80K with typical assets. Of course high home equity and other assets could really swing the numbers. With typical assets, about one third of AGI would be a typical amount to be expected to pay.

My family income is roughly 70k a year.

Family assets total roughly 2 million…with two younger sister in middle school

I think Cornell misssed the assets. I’m also actually surprised the other need based schools gave you a cent unless more than half of the assets are protected in retirement funds, equity caps and such.

Whoops sorry…assets are 600k

I have a friend just accepted and offered 45000 grant. She is NMF, 2370 SAT, 4.5 GPA. Her EFC is 50,000 and I dont know much about the other financial stuff except atleast one parent makes over 100000. Congratulations!
