Cornell Hotel School Workload

Hi my name is Kenny and I’m going to be a hotelie starting the fall of 2005. I was wondering if there are any students that can give me an honest assesment of the workload, because this is my biggest concern. If someone can just tell me how the workload is hands on, what kind of work is done, how many hours a day on average will I be working, if the hotel cirriculum is much easier than all of the other programs, and if there is really as much stress as everyone says. I am generally a pretty easy going guy that can handle a lot, but I love partying too. Will cornell be the right school for me? I know I’m asking a lot, but I would really appreciate anyone that can give me any kind of input. Thank you so much!

Congrats, Kenny!!! Very good questions, I have similar concerns myself. I got in ED, so I hope to see you next year. Can anyone help us out?

AMEN. someone give this boy some answers!

(could Kenny be a girl?) if so, sorry =</p>

haha no im a guy

hotelie work = nonexistent

no just kidding. although hotelies do seem to have it easier than the rest of majors on campus, they do only a slightly less than average amount of work. you really won’t be studying more than 2 hours a night at the very most to get by in your classes…as for hands on, i know hotelies have “Practicals”…i don’t know if you know about that yet, i’m not a hotelie, but i know hotelies have at least one full day where they work in the unglamorous parts of the service industry, going around with maids in the statler and making beds, cleaning rooms, etc…beyond that housekeeping practical i don’t know enough about hotelie work load and hands-on $hit to give a real opinion, but you get the general idea…nothing to worry about

haha it seems like everyone outside of the hotel program talks about how little work hotelies have, while the hotelies constantly complain about how they do work really hard?! Can any hotelies confirm this 2 hr max study theory? I would love to hear it
