It is definitely real. ILR and SHA have always sent out some letters early. Remember that not everyone who has received a letter is on CC.
The letters are definitely real, but I’m sure there will be more acceptances posted on CC by the end of the season; last year there were 20 this year there are only 5-7 so far.
Still no decision yet
Hey guys, I’m new to CC and I am also applying to ILR for RD! I’ve been reading that some ppl have been getting their acceptances already, but I was wondering that if it was possible they were sending out decisions to ppl in certain areas of the US? I’ve been noticing that ppl from the Midwest like Ohio have been getting their decisions back but I haven’t heard from those in other regions. Could that be it?
I’m just worried that all the ILR acceptances have already been released. I haven’t seen someone who has been accepted to ILR on Ivy day @profeshnapper
I’m sure they must save some acceptances for Ivy Day. Doesn’t really make sense for ILR to save all their waitlist/denial letters all for the same day.
This is a GT right?
Dear Vernon:
Thank you for your application to Cornell University. We regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission to Cornell. Given our very large and competitive applicant pool, it is not possible to offer admission to all candidates who would benefit from a Cornell education.
Within the next few days you will receive notification from the undergraduate college to which you’ve applied that you are being offered a transfer option. Please contact the college directly if you have any questions.
We wish you the best as you consider your collegiate options.
Sincerely,
Shawn L. Felton
Director of Undergraduate Admissions
Cornell University
Waitlisted
anyone know if it is possible to get off of the waitlist for ILR?
Guaranteed Transfer!! So happy :))
I also got the same letter as @vlindo. Is this a guaranteed transfer option?
But congrats to everyone who got accepted/waitlisted at ILR!
@vlindo I got the same email. I just considered this a rejection. Has anyone been contacted by the college about the transfer option?
I called ILR yesterday and it is indeed the transfer option. They will be sending info within the next few days. Essentially you go somewhere else for the first year, take some classes that will meet the transfer requirements (english, micro/marco econ, science, social science, math), maintain a certain gpa (probably somewhere between a 3.0-3.3), and then transfer to Cornell for your sophomore year and beyond. @KatieRose @profeshnapper
Still very bitter (directed at myself) to be an ILR 2020 reject. I visited frequently, my best friend goes there, and I insanely applied to Ithaca College to improve my chances of a future transfer (not going) in anticipation of a worst case scenario rejection. If I had to do it over again I would not apply to a contract college. Half of ILR acceptances were based on factors other than GPA & scores. I truly feel bad for several admits. because these kids are clearly in over their heads - from not knowing when Ivy Day was to not knowing the difference between their and they’re. I was followed early on (Dec '15) by ILR on instagram and boy did that get my hopes up (this was when they were much more discerning about who they followed back). Of the few applicants they followed just one got in. One reject was from a SUNY feeder, one was happily admitted to Columbia (great consolation!), the remainder were girls similar to me - robotics nerds, mock trial members, student gov. types. I congratulate everyone and wish the Cornell class of 2020 all good things!
@lyannastark did you make it off the waitlist?
@firstleague Still waiting…have they said anything about the waitlist? I got an email from an admissions counselor at ILR asking me if I was still interested a few weeks ago and I sent a letter of continued interest after.
Idk @lyannastark I was outright denied from ILR; no Guaranteed Transfer/no waitlist. I think it was a good sign you were emailed so soon and hope they made an offer. One of my friends just got off another college’s waitlist so there’s hope for all. As for me I may try Cornell again as a junior. I’m headed to Temple U. for now.
Thank you! I’m still hoping to hear something. Should I email admissions?
