@student88888 is it harder for me?

@PianoWinterfell no idea

I am applying ED to SHA as well. Good luck guys!

@“Lekker123!” we have been discussing stats and work experience. Care to elaborate?

@student88888 honestly, i am kind of worried about my work experience. i don’t think at all that it’s the typical SHA applicant of “working front desk at a hotel” or shadowing… over high school, i have accumulated a lot of work in the sciences and that’s primarily what my essays focused on while linking it to how i love hospitality via volunteerism and i incorporate elements of a pretty memorable vacation i had… so i’m not sure if that will “come off wrong” or make me seem like a “science kid” … but obviously Cornell isn’t a safety for any of us, but thats like a primary thing I’m concerned about

I applied to SHA early decision, just wondering if my chances are good.

@Riley10 Starting your own business is amazing!! I think your chances are great but it seems like you might be a better fit for Dyson

@do2020 I know a bunch of current hotelies who never worked in a hotel back in high school. Many volunteered, worked in restaurants, golf courses, real estate, or travel agencies. The hospitality industry is huge and you don’t necessarily need to work in a hotel

@Riley10 are you from NY? Male or denial? First gen?

@do2020 I agree that your experience isn’t typical. It’s no secret that people have more “official hospitality “ work. But you have a link and you have good scores. Can’t promise anything but you should be fine

@student88888 Does is it really matter what my stats are? Applications were sent weeks ago, nothing none of us can do anymore. If we (all of us) were not within range of what Cornell acceptance stats range, we would not even apply, right?

I feel it would be more productive for us to support each other and relax a bit instead of trying to compare and make each other scare and anxious. We all clearly have a passion for the hospitality field. If it’s not Cornell it won’t be the end of the world. Feels like we are all intelligent hardworking young people. No matter what we will be fine.

What about if we discuss what other schools and programs were also interesting during our college visits? I personally looked at a bunch of other schools. Michigan State and Penn State are on my list for hospitality schools. I did not like NYU, University of Nevada or South Florida. But I am also applying to a couple of business programs with the intent to do a master in hospitality later on. Backup plan.

@“Lekker123!” I didn’t like UNLV either. Didn’t apply to Penn state. Applying to general business programs also not just
Hospitality

@student88888 If you have time you should check Penn State and Michigan State out. Their programs were solid and I have talked to few Cornell graduates and they confirmed those two schools were very good backup options.

I will also apply to UVA, CMU Tepper and UMich Ross for business. I am a bit worried a business major at these schools will be too hardcore finance, stock market (Wall Street is definitely not what I want). But I’ll give it a shot.

@“Lekker123!” how come you didn’t EA to Ross or UVA? Both schools offer!

@student8888 I know… I didn’t. To be honest I was exhausted from all the essays (Penn State Honors Program required a total of eight extra supplements). Working on my UMich, UVA and CMU application now. So much writing. Did you apply there EA?

@“Lekker123!” I applied ea to Ross not UVA

@student8888 To be honest I’m on the fence if I will apply to Ross or straight to LSA and craft liberal arts program with a minor in business and another one in entrepreneurship. Feels like it would be more my kind of school. Ross is soooo cut throat.
