Cornell senior grades check (ED)

About a week and a half ago, Cornell sent a request to my counselor to see my senior 1st quarter grades. I am an ED applicant, what could this request indicate? Does anyone have any stories about receiving a grade request from Cornell? I have seen next to nothing on the internet about this type of thing happening before…

It means they are seriously considering your application. If yours was already tossed into the reject pile, they wouldn’t have asked.

I have seen or heard about this happening at other universities. As @skieurope has said above, this suggests that they have not yet made up their mind, which is probably slightly good news. Of course this does not tell you anything about whether or not you will get in. I have seen a few cases where this did result in an admission decision being delayed a bit, but again this is not something to worry about.

Assuming that your counselor sent in your 1st quarter grades or will send them when available, I would not worry about it. You are likely to hear back relatively soon.

Make sure that you also have applications in to safeties, and best wishes.

One thing that is a bit weird though is I haven’t heard anything on the internet about Cornell doing this.

You are now living proof that they do.
