Cornell Spring 2021 Transfer

checklist is available on portal - decisions start rolling mid November confirmed

is there a waitlist for spring 2021 or will it be acceptance and rejections only?

And you got your portal log in already?

I already got my portal log in too!

Hey guys,

I applied back in early October. I have a wonky academic history and i’m not a typical transfer student either lol. I did terrible my first college experience, less than a 2.0 with 4 semesters and then I enlisted in the Army for 4ish years. I took classes while in the Army and when I got out with around a 3.85 gpa with over 60 semester units. I hope that they look favorably on my recent transcripts and evaluate it holistically haha.

Stats
-Army for 4 years
-College 1; ~2.0 gpa with 60 semester units
-College 2; 3.85 gpa with 60 semester units
-Inducted into an academic honor society at my school
-In a veterans club at my community college

I applied as a Policy Analysis Management major to the school of Human Ecology. Good luck to us all!

Hey,

I hate to be a bother, but im struggling to get a sense if most people got their portal log in yet? Did you?

@futuretransfe102 I think everyone here got their portal. I think you should check your email and type ā€œCornell applicationā€ on your research bar as it might in the promotion tab or somewhere else. If you still can’t find it contact the transfer admission office, they usually get back to you really fast and will help you.

@joshinthepark Hi there I’m a little confused, do you have above 60 college credits already? Cornell wouldn’t consider you eligible if you do and would tell you to consider their masters programs. Also if you have 120 semester units between the 2 schools that should be close to enough to graduate.

Well do you guys think there will be some kind of advantage for us compared to previous year applicants due to COVID? I think there will be less applicants for this year… What do you guys think?

If there are fewer applicants this year than past years then this might be the case.

I’m sorry to tell you this, guys, but when I contacted the admission office, they told me they received more applicants than the previous years, so this semester will be way more competitive.

I also think very few students will be accepted this year. Whenever there is a recession, acceptance rates go down.

POLL:
I think it’ll be interesting to see how many people who see this thread are applying and where they’re applying to.

Fill out this poll on which school you’re applying to: https://strawpoll.com/gekoxkof9

I think we all wanna see if there seems to be a lot of people applying and if our respective schools are competitive.

I think the admission’s response is true. As I counted the Cornell spring transfer thread for spring 2020, there were 13 students post comments before Nov, 2nd, 2019. For this year, there were 18 students post comments till now. CC may not represent all applicants, but it’s a random sample from the whole applicant pool. So, it still mean something

Besides, last year the first post was posted as early as in May, this year is October. which means we have more students in a shorter time range

but don’t worry too much. covid-19 make more people stay at home and use internet more often, so this could be a bias

Alright, time to whip out the confidence intervals and see if this is statistically significant ??

Quick heads up for any veterans that have applied/are considering applying. The provost has made it a mission to have 100 veterans enrolled by the spring semester. There’s currently 64 veterans enrolled at Cornell. Hope this helps anyone

Does anyone have any documents in their application portal that still need processing?

I’m afraid to contact the office about it and make it seem like I’m rushing them, but I’m not sure it’s typical for it to be taking this long or if something’s wrong.

Has anyone else applied to other schools for spring?
