Cornell Statement on ISIS video

I came to CC tonight expecting to see this posted and being discussed, but don’t see it anywhere. Looks like the university issued a statement denying the authenticity of the video of the assistant dean saying ISIS or Hammas speakers would be welcome on campus and to conduct training exercises.

I find this so offensive to Cornell students that the media ran away with this, and I find it a waste of our time to even discuss it. If the clip had been released in full then maybe the comments might be able to stand on their own. But for now, it seems so obvious that the people who made the video were reaching for broad generalizations and conclusions. It’s beyond wrong that they are going to try to destroy this dean’s credibility when he was probably talking about something completely unrelated to ISIS.

It appears Cornell got their statement out before the mainstream media picked it up. That or mainstream media ignored it based on what you cited @CGZoo42‌.

Trash media sources.

The guy basically pretended to be an international student and asked a bunch of questions concerning ISIS. He then edited the video/audio to make it seem like the dean actually said all that.

Almost as bad as Faux News going on Harvard campus and asking similar questions regarding ISIS to people who weren’t aware about the terrorist organization.

Yeah, this has been thoroughly disproven. It’s basically a smear campaign disguised as journalism and I’m glad mainstream media realized that.
