Ok, so I’m a Freshman and I’ve already submitted all of the applications and portfolios, and finished my interview with one of the faculties in order to transfer internally from Fine Arts program to Architecture program in Cornell University. My last semester’s GPA was ok (3.5 with 17 credits + pass or fail 3 credit) and I have two letters of references from my drawing professor and an Architecture professor. The interviewer liked my portfolio and the actual interview went pretty well. I actually think I have a chance of getting in.

So here is the dilemma: One of the classes I’m currently taking for the Fine Arts program is called Introduction to Visual Studies 2000 (art history). I can also take this class in other semester. I am planning to drop the class because my current grade in that class is rather poor (it’s C-) and the professor declared that the assignments will become more and more challenging. I know I cannot maintain nor bring my grade up in that class because I have other school projects that require lot of time. I cannot be that flexible with my schedule. And I don’t want my GPA to be effected because I’m planning to apply to Grad school. Also, architecture program doesn’t require this course, which makes this class more meaningless to me. If I were to drop the class, then I would only have 12 credits this semester (excluding PE). The dilemma is this: would dropping this class effect my chance of getting admitted into the architecture program? Hypothetically, if I do get in, will they rescind their offer?

The drop course deadline is Friday and I’m currently freaking out now! Help!
