This is a broad, faith-based organization. If you are someone who is interested in religion and good works, by all means explore this opportunity.

what is it?
what do you do exactly?
im still confused…

i did
it doesnt make sense
what is it exactly… what are you signing up for?
can someone please elaborate
thanks

CURW is almost identical to the Interfaith Center at the university you are transferring from.

What form are you referring to? Is it in the Cornell Bound packet? If so, then they just want to know if you prefer to have a known affiliation with a particular religious group. In some cases, they might reach out to invite you to celebrate holidays, etc. You don’t have to fill it out at all.

the university i am trasnferring from didnt have an interfaith center…
so your saying if im christain… i should say on it that im christain… and they will tell me christain events that are happening on campus?..

Sorry… You posted a while back that you attended SUNY Stony Brook. I guess you have changed since then.

I can’t answer your specific questions about each religion. I said some religious groups might reach out to invite you to celebrate holidays.

You micromanage too much. If this isn’t important to you… just don’t fill out the form. You can always contact your religious group if you feel the need after you are at school. They aren’t going to turn you away!

Go outside and enjoy the summer!

Most schools have an umbrella organization for their religious groups. They’re not trying to indoctrinate you. It basically serves as a “clearing house” for students who are interested. I have to emphasize that you don’t have to fill anything out.

Maybe these websites will help you understand how other universities work - they are all pretty much the same as Cornell.

A few examples:
Penn: http://www.upenn.edu/chaplain/religiouscommunities.htm
Harvard: http://chaplains.harvard.edu/
Stony Brook: http://naples.cc.sunysb.edu/OSA/interfaith.nsf
WUSTL: http://campusministries.wustl.edu/

do people usually fill it out?

It doesn’t matter if you fill it out or not. If you fill it out and choose a religion then you will get an email every so often about when a religious service of that that religion is held on campus. If you’re religious or feel like going to service then do it. If not then throw it out.

You better fill the entire damn thing out - I think we need to get every religious group on campus praying for you.

LMAO
hahaha

im still confused…

lol

10 char

In addition to the Cornell United Religious Work form, I received, as all other newly admitted students (except Transfer Students), the “Vote a Transfer Student Off The Island”… I didn’t quite understand what this form was but I just went back and re-read the fine print… It is really amazing !!!

It contained a link to “Vote any Annoying Transfer Student Off The Island” … I can’t believe we have the power to basically revoke one Transfer Student … and it is Binding … We have until July 31st to cast as many votes as we want…

I just went into that secret link and voted for “sexy123” …

PLEASE DO NOT TELL HER ABOUT THIS !!!
I do not want her to worry about anything else (just in case she does not get Voted Off The Island)…

So c’mon folks … go back into your acceptance packet and find the “Vote any Annoying Transfer Student Off The Island”… the link is on the bottom on page 2… As I understand it, the winner’s email address will be disclosed by CC to the Admissions Office who will in turn send out the proper forms revoking that Transfer Student’s admission !!!

Thanks … and here’s to voting for “Sexy123” !!!

Ya vote for sexy…not me. ya ya ya
