Cornell University Fall 2020 Transfer

I’m actually not international! But I am out-of-state haha. Hope we both get in though :slight_smile:

non to cas still waiting… checklist is not disappeared

me too

turns out i can’t pm because i’m not a junior member, but if you make a groupme let me know!

I applied as a non-to computer science major and have no update to my application at all. Have there been any updates on any engineering applicants? I also submitted my application pretty late on March 16th, idk if that matters though.

not a junior member yet so i can’t pm, but I’m interested!

@Thomas7287 I cannot PM people yet I do not think, but add me please!

Anyone accepted into the College of Arts and Sciences?

For those who have gotten in, I just received an email from Cornell that they have their own special social network (their exact words) for transfer students. I haven’t signed up yet so I don’t know how it works or if many people use it, but it’s better than nothing

for anyone who got an email that said u are in, did u get ur status update on application portal?

Congrats to those who got in yesterday! And for those who were rejected, there are amazing things coming for you and your work ethic will take you very far. It is not where you go to school that defines you but what you make of your opportunities and what you can create for yourself. For those who have gotten in in past waves, have you received a physical welcome packet? On the acceptance letter it says a packet is coming in the mail but it has been over a week and I have not received a packet or my course evaluation. Thanks guys! Best of luck to everyone in the future.

Can I get an opinion?
I was accepted to Berkeley and to Cornell. Berkeley offered fin aid covering all but 1.5k for 2020/2021. Cornell gave an offer covering all but 15k for 2020/2021.

On paper it seems like a no brained to go for Berkeley, but my dream school is Cornell. I’ve been obsessing over getting in and did everything I could to make it happen, so it just feels crazy to not go now that I achieved that goal and received a large grant.

What do you think?

@GGTRIG yes, the status update appears as a link on your original application portal

@Transferboi84 Are loans included in addition to the $1.5k and $15k contributions, or is it strictly $1.5k a year for Berkeley vs. $15k a year for Cornell?

Also, where do you plan to get the money for each?

@Transfersssss

Loans not included.

The 1.5k I would just pay, for the 15k I would take a loan out, probably from Sallie Mae.

@Transferboi84

Do you think you’ll graduate in 2 years from both schools?

From your account, it looks like you’re an English major. Do you plan on grad school after undergrad? If not, what are your plans?

@Transfersssss

Yes, I’ll graduate in 2 years. I plan on either grad school or law school after, still trying to figure that out.

@Transferboi84 What makes UCB a no brainer?

@Transferboi84

Is the 15k the remaining debt after one year or is it your total debt incurred after your final two years at Cornell?

If it’s your debt for two years, 15k is not an excessive amount of debt to exit school with—especially Cornell. Remember that you’re not simply paying for a Bachelor’s degree. You’re paying for a valuable experience and you’re choosing where you will spend the next two years of your life.

Don’t let that amount alter your choice to attend your dream school. Speaking as someone who works in the service industry, you could pay that off waiting tables for 6 months.

Unless of course a virus attacks the globe and restaurants close for months…
