Um first off let’s give a HUGE thanks to @oldfort for actually calling them and asking!
And…this doesn’t make any sense now…how can they release everyone off of the waitlist if they are supposedly still going through 2018 apps? Why would they be vague if their class is full? Any previous year, they just released it on the very first day if their class was overenrolled…
Doesn’t the representative get tired of all the phone calls that are basically asking the same questions? Why don’t they just flat out post the truth and cease all the headache? That just perplexes me.
Do you guys think they will still offer transfer options in mid may
Any news for AAP waitlist?
I stand by what I posted before, it is very unliked people will get admitted for cas fall 2018.
my post was for humec btw
Can anyone think of a single reason for them to be very vague like that?
I think in every previous year, if the waitlist was closed, that was posted on the website in the very first days of May – this kind of situation never happened before (?)
@Winky1 I applied for Human Development too!
This was emailed to me and forwarded to my guidance counselor. I responded yes, what do you guys think are the chances I actually get in?
"Greetings from Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS). I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing to let you know that CALS is planning on admitting a small number of students off the waiting list.
Are you still interested in coming to Cornell this fall as a _____ major? (Please note that students who may be offered admission from the waiting list are not eligible to request a deferral of admission.) If you would like to attend Cornell in the fall of 2018, we would be honored to nominate you for consideration by the Selection Committee as we determine which students will be offered admission.
Many apologies for the quick time frame for this process, but I would appreciate hearing from you either way no later than 9AM (ET) tomorrow, May 8, 2018; if I do not hear from you by then, I will assume you are no longer interested in Cornell and will nominate another student from the waiting list. Please use the link below to send us an email with your decision. "
@KidPapu congrats!!! When did you receive that email? So I’m guessing they’re doing CALS now.
@grundeis I believe @oldfart got the lowdown. Adcoms seems to have processed apps that ticked off Spring and offered acceptance to who they wanted to admit FIRST for 2019. (EA)…letting them know via the letter that 2018 Fall is closed for them. Now they will work on the larger scale of waitlisted and work through the process for any remaining fall openings. Sit tight for the next two weeks, since they stated this was their hardest most competitive cycle in their history.
Rooting for you all!
Anyone who applied for HUMEC heard back TODAY???
Unfortunately, I DID check off the 2019 checkmark as well as the 2018 checkmark, in fact I even called today and let them know that 2019 is also an option for me…
I will be going to my fourth consecutive Intel ISEF, and I am pretty sure there are only 5-7 people in the entire country of US right now who have qualified to ISEF 4 times in a row!!!
I sent 2 LOCI’s, contacted professors, as well as a counselor email too…
I really don’t know what else I can do now I’ve done everything I possibly could I think.
Is there any chance they are still going to take me for fall 2018 if I checked off the 2019 box too?
Absolutely… if the true you showed and came to life through your application/essays/recommendations, you could be just sitting on the YES pile! Keep the faith [-O<
@BigApple2018 well I’ve kept the faith for this past year right up until not getting into a single non-state school I applied to (despite the thing that I mentioned above) so I’m not sure that’s a good strategy, but thank you for your reassurance
Is this a question to me?
@boogiedad @BigApple2018 So I think that if they didn’t already fill up their class to capacity, they would never “tell everyone yes or no within one week”, they would always keep at least some kids through June and such.
It does appear that they may just be piling through applications right now to find 5-20 more 2019 admits and that’s it, otherwise releasing EVERYONE in mid-May (according to 3 calls directly to the admission office) is unheard of…
Honestly I am kind of enjoying this whole rat race on CC speculating on what Cornell is going to do, but I am 97% sure fall 2018 is not going to open for more than 5 people
