@boogiedad - I have helped many Cornell students over the years. The reason I am able to help them is I am practical and logical. I do not let my emotion get away from me. How many times do you want to read, “Cornell A&S is full for Fall 2018” for you to believe them. You are making them believe there may still be a chance when there is practically no chance for Fall 2018. They need to move on or work on a spot for Spring 2019.
I called A&S admissions today…the person said that the AO’s are “going through waitlist applications right now and will be doing that for the next week or two”.
If they are sending out emails that their class is 100% full, why are they telling multiple people that ask that they are still going through applications and will be for the next week?
This information directly contradicts itself, doesn’t it?
They also told my GC that they don’t know how many WL spots to offer yet. I am confused why are they saying so many different things

Can someone simply call them and ask this exactly: “Some people that I know got an email for a 2019 spot that said that fall 2018 is full. Is this true?”

This board has very little worthwhile info. Most are trying to bounce emotions off each other. Some trying getting others off WL on to other colleges. Others are outright negative. None of you can read admission team’ s mind. Just post when you get in. My attitude: I want Cornell just as much as Cornell wants me. Have faith.”
This board is a truly great comical relief for me. Some have time to write pages that rival common app essays full of BS logic. I am in for the ride.

@grundeis They may be still be reviewing applications for Spring 2019. They very clearly said that they would not be able to offer anyone admission to the fall.
If CAS is saying via email their fall class is full and they don’t anticipate going to the waitlist, then no-one is getting off the waitlist for fall. To those saying spots will become available over summer as deposited students withdraw - no. This is called melt and admissions offices account for it in their admit targets. Meaning that they over-enroll their class by precisely what they predict melt is going to be. Fall is done. Spring admits - congrats!!
I agree with @HarvardForeverrrr that someone should call and straight up ask that question. Preferably someone who has not called recently. But a few days difference would not be too annoying.

My post will get deleted if I say. I’ve tried to say it for two times and the person who called tried too, but somehow this is violating “terms” and getting deleted…
I called the admission office. Stated who I was and asked few questions. This was her response. The person I spoke with was not a student.
I asked if Fall 2018 was closed. The person said adcoms are going over some applications now. I then said, “It appears there are people who are offered spring 2019 admission.” She said, “yes, there were few we offered to.” I said, “In the letter you said Fall 2018 was closed, is that the case.” She said, “We are reviewing applications now. ALL applicants will find out in 1-2 weeks.”
She was vague about Fall 2018. I felt like one of those reporters asking white house communication director questions.
1-2 weeks. If AP exams don’t kill me, this will LOL 8-X
